I really don't like the looks of it. But I guess I didn't like the looks of the new ram when it first came out either, so I guess maybe I just have to get used to it.

Ugly.....bad ugly, I was worried when I first saw the new Durango...I thought, if they use that style front on the next Dakota, I'll be sick.....but hey, to me the best looking ones are the 1st gen's anyway.

When I saw my first 4x4 at the dealer at first I thought it was a 2wd until I looked in the window and saw the switch on the dash. Very droopy looking truck.

I saw a prototype of it in December 2002 and I hated it. I'm pretty sure my opinion won't change. Long live my 2002 QC!

The looks of the 05's can be gotten use to. Not as
good looken as the 04's on back.

I almost traded my 02 4X4, 4.7 in on a 05 4X4, 3.7
V6 untill I heard about the problems with all the
3.7 V6's. Seems they develope a miss after a few
thousand miles. DC is *suppose* rewrite the
software but that has been MANY months ago. I
guess this problem started on the 04's BUT no
problems on the Jeep Liberty's 3.7's.

What about the other issues. DC take care of the
junk brake, ball joint and tranny problems yet?

I'm not about to trade my 02 in only to start all
over fixing DC's problems........ again!

I'd suggest, don't buy a 05 yet...

I like it, i dont like the wheels and tires on them, other than that i believe your gonna see a crap load of these on the road, looks like a more "expensive truck" in my opinion. I heard through the grapevine that they might stick a hemi in these, you have any idea how well thats going to sell? im all for buying one if they do this

I've noticed the industry moving back toward hard lines and creased metal. It'll probably grow on all of us as the F150 did in the late 90's. To me companies should spend more money and time with the hardware than with the styling. A pickup is a timeless design.. seriously when have you seen a bad looking American pickup in the PAST. I'd be perfectly happy with the old schoo chev's/fords/dakotas but imagine how good they could be if they spent the money on hardware development vs. trendy designs.

I hate the new dakota... it looks like a soggy bar of soap landed on some wheels just like a lot of newer cars out there.

Damn ugly, wouldn't buy one. If they had just stayed with the gen III and just refined a few things....oh well too late now. Don't like the squared body styles. I think my next truck will be the ram.

Why don't they let those who own and love the Dakota be in
charge of styling the new ones?

Man, the new dak is ugly. I never liked the look of the rams because the front was so big and it looks like the new dak is on that track. I hate the way it looks like there is a big hole in the front end.

Quad rider is right though, Dodge designers have no clue about what the consumer wants. They should've went with the genIII dak look and just chiseled it a bit more. Should've kept the front end......bad bad move...

05 daks are fugly...i'll stick with my '01 kota

Saw a base Quad an loaded Club last weekend it looks *OK* in the front if you view it at a 45 degree angle but it's way too *square* looking for my tastes.
They definitely sit lower I think you'd have to put a 6 inch lift on them to get the kind of clearance a 3 inch lifted 2000 - 04 would have with a 3 inch lift on.
The interior is, well, interesting. If my '04 Quad suddenly develops some fatal mechanical problem next truck will be a Ram.
RIP Dakota 2005 we hardly knew ya!

Ugly and way too low. Cheap interior. The 05 Tacoma is just about the same size as the 05 Dak, looks tough and mean, and goes 0-60 in about 7.2 seconds. I predict sales of the new Dakota will drop fast. Look for big Dodge incentives on the 05 Daks in a few months. The Dakota doesn't stand a chance. What was Dodge thinking???

I wouldn't mind it if it were a regular cab... though I think the GenIII's look a lot better.
