hey i got a 98 dak w/ a 2/3 drop and wanted to know what size tires to go with that will fit w/o rubbing that yall have used on a dropped dak w/ 20s. im getting the american racing prism's with an offset of 18x, they are 20x8.5 and of a backside of 5.5.

what size tires should i go with that will not rub and fit, 245/35/20 or can i go any bigger? or is this the right size?

I really doubt you'll be able to do that. Looking at my Dak with 20's and NO drop, there really isn't too much room left. If the 35 profile does some how work, expect a rough and dangerous ride.

35 series tires? Be sure to get a mouthgard, because you will be chipping teeth. When tires become that low in profile, why do they have air at all? You'll have to run the tires at max pressure to hold up the weight of your truck. But, as they say, to each his own.

275's will work. 275/45-20 tires would be the thing. I've seen a Dakota with these on all four positions, with no rubbing. Plus, those tires will keep your overall height the same as stock, so your speedo will remain accurate. Also, the 45 series tires aren't nearly as stiff as the 35's. BTW, with the stock brakes, your are going to lose braking performance. Those big wheels will be much heavier than the 16's you have stock. You can mitigate this by getting the lightest wheels possible. Centerline forged wheels would be a good choice. Pricey, yes, but otherwise you're going to have serious suspension/braking problems.

45 series i was told and looks to me, wont fit on a 2/3 dropped dakota. ive seen 45 series tires on normal dak w/ little rubbing. guy at the rim place said i probably couldnt fit 40 series tires and no way 275 bro. u sure that u read my truck was dropped.

anyone WITH A 2/3 DROPPED DAKOTA ON 20'S have pictures or can confirm what size tires they have w/ no rubbing.

Hey Man,
All of the pictures I've seen of a Dak with a 2/3 drop on 20's, the fenders were cut out. I beleive 275 is waaaay too wide also. Hell, what do i know, i have some sweet 20s sitting in my room...too broke to buy tires. :o\

Damn, I wouldn't feel compfortable with a 35 profile tire. It's a rough and dangerous ride.

BUT THAT DAK WILL LOOK SWEET AS HELL

275 40 20 will not fit. My 95 has a 2/3 and it looks like a lifted farm truck. And I took out wheel wells and rolled fenders, ate the tires. I am getting 245 35 20 tomorrow. Its gonna look sick but I live in Vegas and roads are good if cautious. If you want it to look good you have to do it, I will send you some pics to your email if u want
