I need to replace the wheel seal in the right side of the rear end. I have the tire, drum and diff cover off. How do I get the axle to slide out of the rearend? Is there a retainer clip or something holding it in? Its a 1989 5 speed with the 3.9

Most likely there is a C clip.

Have some one push the axle toward the differential while you look for the C clip and remove it, then pull the axle shaft out.

Use the same procedure for re-installing the axl shaft.

First you have to remove the differential pin lockscrew and then slide the differential pin out just far enough to push the axle shaft in. Don't pull the pin all the way out though or the diff gears may fall out if someone rotates an axle shaft.

I have the 9.25 corporate axle, 2000. And I need to change the wheel bearings, but I don't know if the bearings are installed on the axle 1st or in the axle tube 1st. I assume I would install the bearing, then seal, then slide the axle in. Am I right?
