I have a 2004 Ext Cab 4x4 with the 4.7 motor. At 3600miles the power steering pump completly shelled out. Has anyone else had this problem?

Mopar is known for lousy PS pumps ever since they started buying them from Saginaw Steering Gear back in the mid 70's. The Intrepid/Concorde 3.5 has a long history of having them go out between 20,000 45,000 miles with 35,000 being the most common range.

Power steering pump problems are common in the 4.7s be it the Dakota, Durango or the Rams. My power steering pump was leaking when I bought the truck because the power steering housing wasn't tightened down during assembly.
My buddy had a 4.7 Ram and the power steering pump went in that at around 8000 miles.
Try searching this site or www.dodgetrucks.org if you want more info on it.
