Subject: Fog bulbs and white fage guage?
IP: Logged

Message:
I'm looking for something a little brighter for my fog lights and am not sure what bulbs will fit the housing. My manual says an 898 bulb, but I haven't seen that bulb anywhere. I have an '02 Dak w/ factory fogs and have read that several bulbs will fit the housing and would like to pick something a little brighter.

Also, I'd kinda like to buy a white or platinum gauge face but would like to know if I need to do anything special with the needles. I've seen elsewhere that you have to turn on the ignition, let the needles orient then unplug the cluster yadda yadda. Need I do that or do they only fit on one way and come off and go right back on?

Thanks...

As far as the new gauge face goes, you will need to do some work before removing the needles so that you can get the needles back where they belong. They _do not_ recalibrate themselves.

Easiest way is to draw, or take, a picture of the guage needles at idle, after the engine warms up. Then after removing the needles and other stuff and installing the new face, start it up, let it warm up, then place the needles back according to your picture.

A search will get you more detailed steps as this has been covered before. A search for Nu Image should get some good hits.

On the bulbs -- search for a 886. It's exactly the same bulb shape, except it's 50w instead of 37.5. Quite a bit brighter and no ill effects on the stock wiring/switch.
