when i steer to the left or right under about 10-15 mph it sounds like something is rubbing. its not so much of a grinding noise though. would that be the steering column or??? I really have no clue where to start.

hi kevin
i have a 2000 v-6 quad cab 2-wd dakota. i heard this 'rubbing' from my front end, even with the radio on.the noise got louder when i turned left or right. ended up changing both wheel hub assy's. 'cause the wheel bearings ARE not greaseable. there's no replacement bearing we can buy. you have to buy the whole hub assy, and the hub nuts are a one time use only had to buy a 54mm socket (i think that's the size). the hubs coast me $112.00 each and the nuts were about $10.00 each. this was in march of '03 only had about 54,000 miles on the truck. not a bad job.
hope this helps

you might want to jack up the front end(use sefety stands. take off the wheels and turn the hubs by hand and see/ hear /feel if this is where the noise is coming from.
