Hello,

I need help, I'm getting this rattling noise under my truck, I've hit everywhere from front to back to simulate the noise and nothing. It happens when i'm driving on a bumpy road surface. I've narrowed it down to the drivers side rear shock. My question is how much play back and forward and sideways with the shock mounted should it have? Because when i grab and shake it, I can hear the rod inside rattling. Any thoughts would be great thanks.

I dont believe you should here the rod shakeing in the case. The shock dampens movement up and down, but not laterally. You may need to look into new rear shocks.

Thanks for the reply. The rear shocks are only about 4 months old. One does it and the other doesn't. When i grab hold of the lower half of the shock and shake lightly i get a lot of rattling.

What shocks do you have on the back (the rattling one)?

Are they original or aftermarket replacements, and if so what brand?
