I love Dakota's, however, this Gen 4 gives new meaning to the phrase "Butt Ugly".
I like the interior and the rear end appearance, but the front end says urban grocery getter. This is the first time ever that I have been dissapointed about the appearance of a new Dakota. It's probably a great truck...we will have to see.
I am definately keeping my Gen 3. This all reminds me of how GM screwed up the looks of the Camaro/Firebird/Trans Am.

Isn't it true that the 2wd and the 4X4 daks (the 05+) are the same height? does that mean they both use torsion bars?

Now there are some benefits to that "strong chin" front end. If you add a deep air dam to the leading edge of the front bumper, you have a cheap and easy snow plow!!
As for that front bumper and 4x4 ride height, I believe that the reason we are seeing much more of that from all the auto makers is our over protective mother-hen gov't safety organizations, and profit-hungary insurance companies...
Due to the accident hazards created when a high bumpered vehicle runs into a low bumpered vehicle, I believe that the car makers have been required, or "convinced", that the bumper heights need to be made reasonable similar.

Of course, rather than introduce some type of real standard for passing a driver's test, just lower the bar for the bad drivers instead.

f*ck i hate what ebay has done to prices on vehicles. try selling a used vehicle now. everybody goes on "oh i saw that on ebay for thousands less.. blah blah blah" talk about a kick in the nuts when you go to sell a car. f*ck ebay
