here's my question. My truck, as described below, gets on avg 15.2 MPG per the overhead computer, which I have verified is accurate. The rear-end ratio is 3.55. I read somewhere here that having the 3.9* gearing in the rear actually helped/increased MPG as it was easier/less strain on the motor, to get the truck up to speed, assuming of course you aren't drag racing from every stop. Looking to see if this is the case. If you have 2wd, not a quad cab, please don't bother replyng. I am looking for comparable numbers. thanks all

2002 QC 4x4 Sport Plus, 4.7L, auto, Patriot Blue, Tire & Handling group,
Heavy Duty Service group, Leer cap w/out windows, Mopar Step bars and roof rack, Rhino liner in bed and on step bars, Pace Edwards Power Tailgate lock
3.55 rear, 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, all possible fluids are AMSOIL

BBQC;
'04 Quad Cab Sport 4x4 V8 same tranny & rear end no shell on the back it's stock.
1 month old today 2,050 miles my mileage so far:
Commuter traffic 30 to 50 mph 16 - 17.8 mpg
Higway 60 to 70 mph 20 - 23 mpg
I'm seriously thinking of moving to 4:10 gears as soon as I can afford it.

Not a whole lot different. I'm getting between 13 and 16, depending on summer/winter and city/hwy. Can't see how the lower rear end would help on gas when you run higher RPM's at hwy speeds. It does give that extra oomph for towing though...
