Subject: Will a a V8 tranny work with a V6?
IP: Logged

Message:
Just wondering if I could use a 44re or 46re in place of my 42re. My tranny is about to go and I might have a hook up with one from a 5.2 ram. The tranny has to work with my 2000 3.9.

ThankYou

From what I've read, the 3.9 is a 5.2 with 2 cylinders cut off. So if you're pulling the trans from a 318 (5.2), then it SHOULD work. You may need to take the flywheel from the 318 to bolt up to the torque converter. The A500 trans was used on the GEN2 daks, both 3.9 & 5.2, but that was GEN 2.

You're on uncharted territory here, I think. I just rebuilt a A500 in my '91 3.9 4x4. If it goes again, I'll be looking for a stronger alternative.
