Subject: EGR, PCV removal?
IP: Logged

Message:
I'm going to remove my entire intake manifold to do some porting, etc.

I need to remove the EGR to clean it as well.. I see how it's held together by, say.. foldover brackets.. any idea of a good way to take it off? Dakota repair manual says, "remove it." Ha. I'm sure I can bend them back to stay in place, but wanted to know if there was a trick.

Also, is there a good way unhook the vacuum line from the PCV to the intake manifold, besides just pulling it off?

Thanks, guys.

You do not need to disassemble the EGR valve itself. DO NOT pull back the folded bracket, it is not required. There are two bolts under that shiney part of the valve. 13mm or ½" if I remember correctly. Simply remove those & pull the valve off. The transducer, the black plastic control unit attached to the EGR by vacuum lines, should just unclip from its mounting bracket.

If the vacuum line for the PCV is not comming off, take a sharp knife and slice the bottom inch of the line. This is release the pressure & any rust that's formed holding the line on. Once removed, cut off the sliced portion of the vacuum line and reattach when you're done. Vacuum line is cheap if you cut it too short, just bring the old one to Pep Boys / Canadian Tire or equivlent & have 'em cut one for you. ~$5. Oh, and change that PCV valve too.
