Subject: What size tires???
IP: Logged

Message:
Got an 04, Quad Cab. It has the stock aluminum 16X8 rims. Currently, it has Goodyear 255/65R/-16's on it. Truck has about 700 miles currently so it'll be awhile before these wear out.

When they do, I'm wanting something a bit bigger. What size tire will fit these rims and how big can I go without having to lift the truck or modify the wheel wells?

Thanks in advance for any advice!!!!!!

John

Those Goodyears won't last as long as you think.
I pulled mine off after 9000 miles and sold them. Snow and wet traction were positively dangerous.
Anyway.....Size.....32x11.5 tires fit with just a bit of rubbing at full turn. (trimming plastic inside the fender can cure this).
......31x10.5 inch fit with no rubbing at all. (that's what I've got on my 2001 QC 4x4 with stock suspension ).
This question gets answered here about 20 times a year. It's obvious DQ has to start putting better and bigger tires on their Dakotas. maybe for the 2005 redesign.

I've got LT265/75R16 on my 2001 Quadcab 4X4 with 16 X 8 factory rims. No rubbing at all.

A little bigger and a lot better (32 X 10.43). I bought BF Goodrich Land Terrain from my local Wal-Mart.

Hammerdak is correct. I put the goodyear MTR 32 X 11.5 on mine. I only get a small amount of rubbing when I am at full turn. I get a ton of compliments on them, they really change the look of the truck.

so a 265/60/r16 fits w/ no problems? whats the odometer difference?

my pos eagle LS's have gone bald after 30k, and i don't want to pay 130 to replace each one so i am debating on getting some different tires and can't find much else in that size w/ a milage warrenty.

You won't find much of a mileage warranty on any truck tire. Too much abuse. You wanna play, you gotta pay.

Noltz, I agree that was worth repeating.

I too am wondering how big I can go with my stock 16x8s. But I am willing to consider larger wheels; what is the absolute largest I can go, wheel/tire wise, with all else stock? And no rubbing?

As for tires, I like the look of the BFGs, but hear great things about the Michelins. Thoughts?
