When I took my console out to install my new Hurst shifter, it basically is carpeted under there. The only problem is there is a large mounting bracket (easily taken out) across the center section. There is 4 wholes to mount the center console to the floor, leaving at least 4 holes in the capret. I think there is 3 more screws under the cup holders, so that makes 7 holes, at least, in the carpet that you would have to deal with.

Well after taking the console out. I am afraid to report that there are 7 large holes in the carpet, ones that i am unwilling to live with. Secondly i have no storage other than the doors and the sunglass cases, enough for three dimes. Thirdly, there is alot of ambient noise from the transmission, too much to live with. Finally the shift boot would need to be replaced because it contains a shroud and is not long enough to cover the shifter case.
I was impressed with the added space though, shifting 1-2 is greatly improved but the above faults made me think otherwise. Oh and there is a large connector in the floor for the internal power outlet inside the console.
