 Subject: Thermostat for 5.9L

I have a 2001 5.9L R/T and i want to change my t-stat, but i dont know to what temp. I've read all aout the other engines and how they run with the 180 stat and that 160 isnt the way to go, But which one would work best for the 5.9L.
Also I've gone to the autoparts store to get one but they only had the 160 and 195 t-stats , where do you guys get the 180 t-stats.

if they dont have it on the shelf, have you considered asking for it? they should be able to order it for you....

Here are the Stant Part Numbers for a 180. Local Auto Parts stores will carry the 45358 in box. The national ones will carry the 65358 in a carded pack (piece of cardboard with plastic film around it and the stat. Robert Shaw is supposed to be better quality, but it's just a stat.
Dave, the 65358 is the carded version of the 45358 so Kragen has the correct part.

Went to Kragen's today to look for it. They only have a 65358, and the counterperson claims that's the one.
Where can I get one locally?

Dave, the proper 180F SuperStat for your truck is our 45358. The OEM temperature SuperStat for your truck is our 45359, which is a 195F stat.
