Subject: High flow cat, or no cat?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 1995 Dodge 3.9L.

Going through it now, trying to get some of the problems taken care of. Many of you have said that my poor gas mileage may be worsened by my cat being old, clogged and my EGR valve / solenoid.

Here's my question.. after I get it smogged this week, should I go ahead and take off the cat, or get a high-flo cat?

Can anyone reccommend a good high-flow cat? Any problems with taking the cat completely off?

Almost any new ' aftermarket ' cat is better than
the original . New technology = smaller , no screens to plug up.. Just don't go to D.C.
otherwise known as Chryco for it..

I would keep the cat, and just get a standard aftermarket part. You'll pay a lot more for the "high flow" part, but won't really see any differance on your 3.9.

There's really no performance advantage to getting rid of the cat. I don't know about you, but I prefer to keep the air as clean as possible - within reason, of course.

nothing more disgusting then having to drive down the road following a stinker car, unless of course the driver is smoking a cigarette or even worse a cigar!
