 Subject: What oil weight does what?

Going to change to amsoil tomorrow. just need to decide
whether its going to be 5w 30 or 10w 30. The manual says 5w
30 and thats what I been running for the last since I bought the
truck (dino oil). What are the real differences between the two??
5w 30 gives better mileage and 10w 30 protects better ??
