ok well i've been to this site a few times and i've noticed that
there are much better message boards out there. please don't
take this the wrong way because it's a great board, lots of info,
but i just don't really enjoy the set up. i have no clue who
originally started this website but i was wondering if they have
looked into turning it into a PHBB style board. i have no clue if
that helps out but an example would be
www.gmmodernmuscle.com or www.omaharacing.com it's a lot
better organization and there would still be room for the
sponsors advertisements. it also provies for PMs and user
groups. i've noticed on this board it's hard to see if you get a
respone and stuff just because of the massive amounts of topics
that are posted. well it's just my oppinion and suggestion so
take it as you would like. if you have any info or questions about
a board like that shoot me an IM on AOL. my s/n is

If you want serious Dakota websites where you can get info and answers you need to go to a website like Dakotausa.com or durango-dakota.com or even Dodge Truck World where you have to be a member and join. I only come here to read the flaming posts cause they're funny....hehe

This site has been this way for years. the Admin Mark only comes up with excuse why he cant make changes that are needed to make this site better. It is all in the coding he always says. Not even sure how much he comes around anymore. There is good info here inbetween the flames. But wingman is right there are much better sites to get real good info from very knowledgable people but you have to join the site, it is free to join them. this is the only way the other sites prevent them from turning out to be the mess this site has always been. But you can just post here whatever and whenever you want and be a unknown if you want. This site will never change.

Just the truth!

Yes the board could use some updating. The only problem with that is the years of data that this board has would not transfer. The new phpBB software has convertors for several board types but not this one. This was obsolete the day it came on line, but it serves it's purpose. I don't blame Mark for leaving it be, the advertisers and such would probly demand a refund. And as long as it makes money leave it be. Also all the search engines that have indexed this site would have incorrect paging, which the advertisors depend on.

There are other Dakota Sites that use phpBB and vBulletin and have tried hard to keep up with what users are looking for. Do a search for 'Dakota Trucks' on google or something and you can find them.

I'll never understand why anyone thinks dakotasusa site is better than this one. Checked it out for a while and never saw any info there that wasn't here. Seemed overmoderated and moderators seemed to be fueding with each other. Weird "stepford wives" kind of feel to it; when you see someone claiming something wrong, you'd have to be overly careful not to step on their toes. Sure, you get some slamming here, but I think the truth about stuff comes out better because when someone posts B.S. you can call them on it.

Well said Kowalski!
I started browsing a bunch of boards when I got my Dak last year, but found that I really only have time to follow one board. I just liked this one.
I've found that there's plenty of people on here who really know Daks, and a lot of great info if you know where to look. I've managed to bookmark a lot of great "how to" threads. (It WOULD be nice if there were a few more "how to" articles on the home page here.)
Anyhow, I finally signed up last week, and am just waiting "for the system to be updated" so I can register...coughcoughmark...

Yes, the registration process takes a few days here, but its worth the wait. There used to be a guy who posted here as "NEO" who posted with pirated names, extra names to reply to his own posts, vulgar posts, etc. When I exposed him for it, he moved to Dakusa same time as I was checking it out. He posted lies on that site, registered under multiple identities responding to his own foolish posts again, against their rules. He was sanctioned by the moderators when I called him on it there too; but the members supported him blindly and got down on me because I said I was familiar with his antics on this site. That they would be so threatened by someone mentioning this site on theirs should indicate what the best site is.

This site takes a lot of heat but when it comes to research, it's the first board I go to. There is a ton of old posts with good info, tips, tricks, been-there-done-that kind of info. And I think a lot of the immature crap has toned down lately.

I think the reason this board doesn't update is because the amsoil man and the moderator are friends.Steve can use this site to peddle his product and post under various names and flame people who do not buy into his B.S..I agree with purdue gradute if you do not think amsoil is the greatest thing since sliced bread you are going to get flamed.

Funny how nobody even mentioned oil on this thread...

Anyway, this board's not going to change, and that doesn't bother me a bit. Does it need more moderation? I don't think so. In fact, some of the stupid stuff that goes on here is quite entertaining. Occasionally, some offensive stuff does get posted, but it seems to get removed quickly enough. Of course, everyone has a different idea of what's offensive.
Sure, it'd be a friendlier site if there weren't any abusive posts, everybody had to post under their real names, and we all agreed on everything... but there are other boards out there if that's what you want.
Fortunately, plenty of really knowledgeable, experienced and helpful people have choosen to stick around. Hopefully, they'll continue to do so!

mopar_man,

Eye-Trip used to be my #1 flamer until Mark cancelled his membership (at EyeTrip's request, not my idea or Mark's.) Seems like a couple of guys ganged up on EyeTrip and he ran off crying. Now it is somebody else but I won't mention any names on this thread ... to protect the guilty ; - )
__________________________________________________

Actually it is the "flamers" and "bashers" that keep bumping my threads to the top. I should thank the "flamers and bashers" ... not for the "flames and bashing" ... but for keeping the Amsoil name near the TOP of almost every FORUM.
__________________________________________________

I have NEVER asked anyone to post on behalf of myself or Amsoil. I have NEVER posted as anyone but myself (except for some off-color jokes on the joke thread, but then I use my last name Roark). I have NEVER flamed or disrespected anyone because of something they said about me or my products ... unless they made it a personal attack.
__________________________________________________

I am 40 years old and own and operate four (4) businesses ... real brick and mortar commercial businesses, not including my sideline MLM businesses of Amsoil (Synthetic Lubricants and Filters) and ALTRUM (vitamins, organic fertilizer, water filtration, etc.). I really DO NOT have time for foolish childplay as you have accused of me of participating in.
__________________________________________________

Top Three (3) Reasons that I am a Sponsor/Advertiser on a Dodge Dakota Truck Website:

1) Mark (site owner) and I work at the same firm in New Jersey.

2) My cousin owns a Dodge Dealership in Georgia.

3) My Bro-In-Law owns a Dodge/Jeep/Ferrari/Maserati Dealership in England.

... so I have owned, and driven, and been in the garage with, many Dakota's, Durango's, Ram's, etc., etc., ... and I have owned Dodge Trucks and Dodge Vans in the past.

oh yes ... #4) I help Mark as Volunteer Moderator

Note: Mark likes an open forum where people have fun and can post what they actually want to say. As long as it does not get to nasty, vulgar, or stupid ... he prefers to leave it alone. __________________________________________________

This board is kind of a lot more fun then others because of the "no registration" policy... makes it more entertaining and you can speak your mind. I have made posts on dakotausa that were deleted because i questioned a moderator... which one? i dont know... there are probably around 100 of them. I like to go there for the Texas/DFW forum and that's about it.

This place does have moderation. It just has to be pretty severe to get attention from mark or steven. There have been plenty of nasty pictures from the less mature and i am usually the one that points them out to mark or steven and they do a good job cleaning up the site.

Only thing i will be honest about is i really dont like the membership registration here. I paid $30 for a memembership two and half years ago but never got any of the stuff stated in the benefits package other than a thumbnail and picture of my truck.. but hey, i only paid once and i think that's pretty fair that mark hasnt gotten on to me about it. Hell, i would probably pay for another year if i would at least get a damn sticker ;)

Only question i have is... where the frock is mark?? I asked what was up with him on the member's board because he hadnt been around in a long time and just getting curious if all's okay.

IntenseDak39,

In Mark's defense ... the firm we both work with in New Jersey has grown from one (1) office and three (3) employees 1n 1998 to six (6) offices and seventy-two (72) employees today ... all within five (5) years.

It is an Investment Banking firm (Real Estate, Insurance, Venture Capital) doing business in the U.S., Mexico, Latin America, Europe, and Asia. Many of the employees travel and he is responsible for making certain that our computer and communication systems are up and running around the globe.

He is a bit overwhelmed with the rapid growth.

bg fluids,

Absolutely nothing wrong with Real Estate Investment Trusts, or REIT's (in general). It is all in how the deal is structured. Just because a few energy trading firms were commiting fraud (i.e. ENRON) does not mean that every energy trading firm is criminal. Same with REIT's.

Currently, the major risk in REIT's at this moment is the general fear that we are in a Real Estate Price Bubble (Residential and Commercial). If this is the case you will see the REIT's that were not structured properly begin to fail first.
