 Subject: Whining From Tranny When I Put In Rev.

Ok...here's the scenerio: I start up my truck (2000 4.7 CC)...put it in reverse and for a second or two while my foot is still on my brake I hear this whining sound like something is spinning up for a brief moment and then it stops. It's been doing this for ever (never noticed it really until I started parking my truck in a garage where it gets amplified a bit). Is this normal...is this even coming from the tranny? Sound definately eminates from that area and I couldn't imagine it's my transfer case since the 4x4 is not engaged.
