Any body need a never used computer for a 94 318 4x4 ? I bought this thinking that my problem was the ECM but it was a small crack in the electronic pickup in the distributer. Its never been used but like most electronic parts they'er non-returnable, leaving me stuck with a $300 paper weight. I'll let it go real cheap.

I am getting ready to buy a PCM myself, and was wondering what your symptoms were for the pick up in your distributor. Did your truck just die one day or was it an intermittant problem. Sometimes running fine and sometimes not?
When it was not running would the engine try to turn over but not turn on? Mine used to try to turn over and now it is finally dead. I have some other issues that are making me think it is the computer but I am second guessing the PCM, now....

The truck would start and run fine, but once hot, if shut off it wouldn't restart. It turns out that the board on the electronic pick-up in the distrubator had a small crack in the soder. As a result it would arch across to start and run fine, but would expend when it got hot. When the engine was turned off the two pieces were to far apart for the arch to form and the engine would not restart. Its possible that yours has been arching enough that the gap is too wide even when cold.

Thannks so much for the reply! This should help, I am not sure if I have a pick up in the distributor but there is a sensor underneath the rotor, that may be the pick up. I will check it and see if there are any cracks or wear. I know the sensor has been in there since factory build so maybe it is finnally gone south. My problems did start when it was hot outside and it would run fine in the morning when it was cool outside.

I dout if my computer works because only light that comes on is the fuel light. I got a oil leak and when the truck is over 2 qts low the oil light does not light up.
