The black magic 150 fan made by flex a lite can be heard at idle but not when driving. I'm not crazy about their adjustable thermostat, I have three that don't work correctly. Had to fabricate mounting brackets for it too. Might want to try Permacool.

My 01 4.7 came with an elec fan, even without the the belt fan clutch, and having a 180 t-stat, it's more than enough, and you can hear it with stock exhnaust set up, outside the truck, etc.
