Did the tuneup this weekend-
Champion Plugs(oem)
Napa brass Cap and rotor
Napa 7mm wires

And My ? is- The wires were all alittle short so I tried to attach them to the "wire holders" but most could not be attached like the ones I took off. Is there a problem with this and can wires touch each other? The motor runs so quite now, I hear a tick, tick sound......?

I noticed that the coil wire that was on it just cane from the cap and laid on the valve cover as it went to the coil, so I laid it just like the one I took off.....

Thanks ,

Ronder

PS. I did a diagram of were the wires went as I took them off, but somehow screwed up...But happily found the post about cap wire postion and cylinder position.... then it started and runs smoothly!!!!!! THANKS

no problem with the wires touching, they are insulated.

consider taking the tb off for a good cleaning to when you do a tune up.

Nitro Junkie, easy for U to say.....
I was glad I got the tuneup done (not a auto mech).
I have read on the Board about taking the TB off, but it sounds like something I would not like to try...

Can I just CLEAN the "area" without taking the TB OFF?

Thanks,

Ronder

Though I haven't cleaned my TB yet, it seems that most guys on this board would recommend that you remove the TB before cleaning it. Here's a recent thread on the subject from the v6 forum:

Did you figure out what the tick tick was? Possibly you can hear the injectors now that it runs 'quiet'? Just a thought.

I realize the wires are insulated but I've read that when wires touch, that one can induce a voltage in another??? I keep mine apart. When I buy spark plug wires I always get the V8 set. One so I have longer wires and two so I have a couple spares left.

Ronder,
Removing the tb isn't very difficult at all. I'm a 17 year old who barely knows anything about engines and I had no problems whatsoever when I removed mine and switched it with the one I ported. Just remember to buy a new gasket... under $2 at Advance Auto Parts (for some odd reason my local Autozone said they don't carry them). Also, don't forget to unhook your sensors when taking it off... IAC, TPS, and MAP and don't forget to reconnect them when you put them back on. Not too difficult at all.
