Don't ask me why but I have always liked the squarer looking trucks from the late 80's more than the newer rounded look.
Anyway, I recently purchased a 1989 5spd Dodge Dakota with a little four-banger in it. Its a great little truck for back and forth to work, but to be honest I want more. Since this is my first truck, I am unsure what is possible with it, though I imagine like most other dodges I have owned there are many paths I can take with it.
I would appreciate any input as to personal thoughts or past experienceson pretty much anything that applies... Engines, trans, etc etc.

At the moment I am thinking of going with a 3.9L 6, and putting a heavier duty trans on also. (I was leaning towards a 318, but I'm afraid the gas prices would kill me.) Living in PA with the daily hills, I doubt an old trans from a 4cyl set up could deal with the increased power from a 6 and any mods I make PLUS the hills for very long, but to be honest, I don't know... which is why I'm here asking for advice.

Also, if anyone knows any good suppliers for parts in the western PA area, rebuilt engines, trans, body parts, interior parts, etc, could you please let me know.
