Can any one tell me why the intake manifold on the 1999 3.9L V6 has this little metal tube that sucks in air , its located right under the breather line to the heads, on the passenger side of the manifold. Its making this loud wistle vacum sound.

I know this sounds dumb, but any help would be the best.
thanks

plug it! if it goes directly into your intake, and it is sucking air, it is a vacuum line. you should not leave it open, it will suck in any dirt that gets in front of it. leave the engine running, and plug it off. The idle should go down quite a bit, then smooth right out!

Probable originally had a " dummy ' cap , which
may have deteriorated and fallen away ??
Unless you or someone else disturbed a vacuum
line ???
Find the loose hose and put back ..
Or as above , get it plugged off one way
or another..

On mine it is just a cap it doesn't go anywhere. Just find a
rubber cap and terminate it, probably a test port for something.
