Subject: Unbelievable, Im my own worst enemy.

So after 6 months with no incidents, all that work of parking carefully and everything, I inflict the damage to my 04 Quad. Was cruising home from work in full uniform with gunbelt on, all four windows down, rear slider open. PArked in my parking lot. Got out. Looked up and realized the rear slider was still open. So I reached over to close it from the passenger side without even thinking and cringe when I feel my side arm come in contact with the truck. And of course, the front sights have left a nice little paint gouge the size of a pin head. Un fricking believable, after all those months of being so careful one moment of inattentiveness and my baby is scarred.

It`s over now, matter of time. Now it won`t be so stressful because it isn`t "perfect anymore". Inevitable but a blessing in disguise. At least you did it and not the dealer after they didn`t fix something ;)

Yeah. I remember scratching my baby for the first time. Throwing gear in and out of the back while riding Quads. Made me want to bow my head in shame.

Oh well. It's a TRUCK and it still looks good.

That's got to be the WORST yet. Having your own FRIEND mess up your truck. It would be easier dealing with a stranger to make pay for it!

Last summer, one of my horses raked her teeth across mine, behind the rear window. Also had a horse kick out a rear taillight on my Ram.

I backed my truck into a parking space in the parking garage. Most of the spaces have those concrete risers that bump your tires. I was expecting that bump, and instead I backed (at idle) right into a concrete support for the garage. Put a big verticle dent+scratch in my painted bumper. I felt like an idiot then, and every time I look at it.

I thought, at least the interior is in great shape! Then today my dog got overheated at the dog park and threw up all over the seats.

Here's what has happened to my truck:

1. Mom borrows it for a day to go kayaking with her friend, throws the kayak in the back and dents the top rail of the bed below the rear window.

2. Small dent on bedrail from high school parking lot, don't ask me how.

3. Drunk bum runs into me on bike, dents above right rear wheel. (That's a tough one to deal with).

4. Toyota backs into me in an airport, $2500 from his insurance, repaired.

5. Found a scratch from a silver, and based on the location, truck after I got out of class yesterday.

All this and I've only had it for 2 years! None of these were directly my fault, but the truck still looks really good. The only one that you really notice (in the right light) is the dime-sized dent from the "transient", which is still really embarrassing, but I'd take it over a car anyday. Sad thing is I've put everything I can think of in the back without damaging anything.

Oh well, my stance is I can't do anything about it now except keep trying to make it look nice. And maybe stop parking in my school's lot...

Needless to say i switched tires as soon as i got the truck back from the shop. But now i dont worry so much when i take it offroad either.

just remember its a truck. I had my truck two weeks, slid a dresser in the bed, nice long white scratch on a black truck. A month later went four wheeling, scratched sides and roof front to rear, oh and ripped the front license plate off. Got stuck in a school field (dont ask), had to "clearance" the tailgate and bumper on a fence post to get turned around. Slapped the bed into the cab while coming down off a steep grade, guess the departure angle leaves something to be desired. Bent the rear bumper on a rock while crossing a stream, departure angle again. Then, I slapped the front bumper into a Jeep Cherokee on my way to work. With a 4WD truck, they arent dents and scratches, they are battle wounds, badges of honor, "character", and best of all beauty marks.

Took mine down a farily muddy trail and my friend pulled up along side of me in his older toyota on a muddy incline and slid sideways and his metal mirror supports landed on the side of my bed. The only way out was for me to drive forward. Left a good 12in scratch. Then a few weeks later rolled it on a really icy road. Got it fixed now it is all better.

The first, self-inflicted scratch on my 2K QC was March '03. We had a good snow storm that dropped better than three foot of snow. Once the storm had passed, the sun came out & started melting things off pretty well. So, I decided to get the Dak out to pull some people out of their driveways. I had about two foot of snow piled up against the garage door, but it dropped off pretty quickly to about a foot...so I just hopped in, threw it into four-high, and started backing out. I was almost out of the garage when my ass-end slid sideways, pitching my driver-side front fender into the side of the garage. Thankfully, it mainly just transferred paint to my fender flare, but I was horrified none the less. 8^(

I think I've got you all beat:( -

Over my Christmas Break, some girls from my high school came to my house sometime during the night and graffitied all over my r/t with neon orange and pastel yellow spray paint. Got everything: windows, wheels, tires, license plate, eveything!!! $2,000 estimate. THEN, less than 2 months later on my way to school, my brakes locked up on icy road and I rear-ended some old guy in a Jeep Cherokee. My truck is STILL in the shop getting fixed:(

SUCKS FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, actually, it doesn't suck for him. He got $1,000 to fix his back bumper that looked like I had walked up and kicked it! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention: 1) He had already left the scene of an accident; he flipped his compnany's farm truck after running off the road. 2) I had no idea there was ice on the road because you couldn't tell (it wasn't even cold outside). 3) I was going 25 in a 55. 4) It was so foggy you couldn't see 20 feet ahead of you. 5) He pulled over in front of me as I was heading for the shoulder to keep from hitting him. AND...... 6) IF YOU HAD BEEN IN THE SITUATION I WAS, THE SAME THING WOULD HAVE HAPPENED!!!!!!!!! I did everything right to keep from hitting that guy, it was HIS fault, NOT mine!

Situation with the highschool girls at least coulda been avoided. Gots ta treat yo women a little bit better. Or at least if you know you're gonna dick a girl over, never ever let her know where you park your vehicle. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and they know exactly how to hit you where it hurts.

Well the reason I'm driving a Dakota today is because I rolled my 98 Ram 1500 off a dirt embankment one night.

Seems someone brought a frontend loader over to this pile of dirt I used to climb and decided to take a big chunk out of the side of it. It was dark and I couldn't see the hole they had left. By the time I felt the entire left side of the truck start to slip off the hill, it was too late. Completely totalled. Insurance gave me $16000 for it but now I'm paying $650 for 6 months of full-coverage....Ouch.

HAHA! Don't hold your breath waiting for me to sympathize. 980 for 6 months of coverage, with a perfect record, no tickets or accidents in the last 3 years, living in the suburbs, with my renter's insurance from the same company.
