I'll add mine to the list...
Quickrete was on sale at Lowe's so I decided to pour a walkway.
I bought/hauled 50 40# bags. 2000 pounds and the truck sat level. It accelerated fine, and "handled" fine but stopping was SCARY.

BTW what is the payload capacity of a 2002 SLT+ CC, 4.7L, 3.55 gears, 45RFE, and the Trailering/Towing/HD package?

yeah thats prolly why, these stores don't really care as long as they make the sale. it should be their responsibilty to make sure the vehicile being used can take the weight or else have it delivered. I guess stupid people want to ruin their trucks so that they can sue these home depot places.

I can't say that I've ever done anything that stupid with my truck. I couldn't imagine torturing my little r/t like that. My dads Hemi takes care of all our towing/hauling. With the exception of plywood now and then, the only things put in the bed of my truck are my skateboard and 44 lb bag of dogfood. Oh, and get this. My mom's friend's fiance is towing a full-size doudle-axle trailer with a fullsize cc 4x4 Chevy down from St. Louis (about 175 miles away).............with an S-10!!!!!! What a moron!!! But then again, this same guy said his stock 2001 Intrepid was twin-turbocharged and would slaughter my r/t. Poor guy. At least he WAS smart enough to buy a Dodge, lol.

Chris - get a clue man, its the driver's responsibility that their vehicle can handle the load. People really need to take more personal responsibility...

well, yeah, but everyone knows people are looking to sue somebody, so they should have posted somewhere if you don't want it delivered, you must be able to safely carry it home. otherwise, lawsuit city because there cars will break going down the road. people are not that smart.

It is the responsibility of whoever secures the load to the car.

If I load a car with anything and it falls off, I'm am at fault. If I where to load a car, but then make the customer tie down the load than I am 100% not legally responsible for the load. That is why you always see yard staff holding the rope for the customer , or assisting with the tiedown strap, but not strapping it down themselves. Basically you are allowed to assist with the tiedown , but not be primarily involved. that's straight from the WSIB. Anyone who is stupid enough to fall into that trap should and will get caught.

If it breaks the car than that would be stupid of me to do it but, not my problem.

Basically yeah, no one should be that stupid in the first place if you buy a 2 wheel drive v6, you should know it can't carry that much weight in the bed. I guess no one knows how to read the owners manual to figure the safe load carrying capability of the vehicle.

People overload 1500 trucks everyday. The manufacturers put in about a 25% safety margin in self defense. No truck handles the same with a full load in the bed or towning. Mine has the 5900 GVWR and the handling and tow packages. With a full load you better slow down and respect the load your carring or your in trouble. It takes roughly 50%, probably greater, more brake power to stop than empty and the same applies to cornering and acceleration. The truck probably won't break but you might die driving in your normal manner.

yeah, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that heavy loads in a truck drastically change the way it stops, but some people dont care, i see everyday people in exploeres and minivans trying to pull heavy boats and trailers with the rear of the truck almost touching the ground.

Working at a lumberyard/hardware store I see people overload their vehicles everyday. i just sit back and laugh at them as they try to drive away. I've had a guy put 2x12x16 PT boards through his passenger side window with all the weight on his side view mirror and 10 feet of the boards hanging out the window. Then theres a guy that comes in for 40lb bags of wood pellets with a honda accord. he puts 4 bags in the front passenger seat and 10 in the backseat and another 6 or so in the trunk.(almost 1/2 ton) all 4 tires are scraping the wheelwells and the bottom of the car is maybe 2 inches off the ground. its real funny to see how stupid some people can really be.

What you should always do before you load up your truck is to look at the owners manuel and find out the GVWR of your truck before you go around hauling 2 tons of rock or dirt.
