 Subject: K&N air filter

there never seems to be a straight answer on most topics and i know it all comes down to preference a lot of times, but why is it so bad to get a k&n air filter? they can't be one of the best selling after market air filters for no reason, can they? i hear they flow too good which lets more dirt in than a stock filter... true? i thought the oil was there to catch this dirt. if i shouldn't get a k&n filter what is the best aftermarket one to use?

You can order just the drop-in replacement. Better filtration than K&N IMHO. You can see daylight through the K&N,can`t with S&B.
Oil is for lubrication.Not grinding your bearings away with any ingested dirt before it gets to filter. Or passes through filter or if filter goes into by-pass.

i just read your link about the 360 intakez and in their instructions it said it includes a K&N high flow air filter????? then earlier it says they have their filter which is much better than the junk k&n filter. hmmm wtf is that about. their filter is better but they supply a k&n in one of their kits???

Intense Performance has a great air intake that uses the S&B filter take a look at it. I think mines great.

I stopped running K&N because I found factory filters worked better with MPG. Both in our Dakota and Ford F250 460.

S & B ...... go to your link then click on the air intakes link on the left, then follow along until u get to the 2 types ...power shot and kool shot... click on kool shot, then 4.7L, then click on the picture of the kool shot,here it lists the components of the kit, it does indeed say S & B drop in filter BUT then click on installation instructions......here is what it says "congratulations and thank you for your purchase of a 360 air intakez system for your dakota/durango. your wise choice will pay off for years to come, due to our solid and durable design of each 360 air intakez system. we use a 9" K&N high flow filter to achieve the most horsepower possible.thank you again for your purchase."
now what the heck is that about ??? is it K&N or S&B? me no understand double talk. lol.
