 Subject: 2.5 just stops running

Hey guys, I have a friend with a 2000 Dakaota with the 2.5. The truck just stops running when he is driving. After a few minutes the truck will start again and he can drive it for days before it will do it again. The check engine light does not come on, and he has had the trucks computer checked for codes, but nothing is being stored in the memory. The dealer can't do anything with it unless he brings it in when it's not running. Any clue as to what might be going on? My 3.9 did the same thing and it was the fuel pump. The truck only has 40000 miles on it, but I guess the fuel pump could be bad. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance.
