For bragging rights, one point each:

Question 1: How may times will a P265/70R16 tire rotate in one statute mile?

Question 2: Same question for a P255/65R16.

Question 3: Same question for a P245/70R16.

Cite the source for your answer (ie; where you got your answer).

Answer will be posted tomorrow or the next day.

Good Luck!

No source of answer, just my knowledge of how tires are sized and the engineering background I have.

Nice numbers. Got those too. I would have approximated to the 4th decimal place though :-)

Actually I could only use three signigicant figures. My bad. I used 25.4mm/inch so 3 is my limit. Ive been out of college for a while so I guess I screwed up.

I'm gonna try to work this out in the space here. Let's try the 255/65/16. I just secured the valedictorian spot and got into UCLA and Harvey Mudd, so hopefully I do it right:

255mm=25.5cm }
}====> (Same as Marks 25.4mm/in)
2.54cm~1in }

just >10 in across

>10*.65=even closer to 6.5

6.5*2+16=29

29*pi~93, say 90

90 in = 7.5 ft

5280/7.5=very close to 700

Your numbers look good to me. But more importantly, it looks like I did it right...hehe.

I think Mark has the better numbers here, sorry. Lower tire pressure would indeed make the tire have to go around more times/mile, but since the size was all we have to go off of, I think his are right. How did they actually calculate that anyway? Empirical?
