 Subject: Camshaft Sensor ???

The check engine light came on, on my '97 dakota 2.5L "54: No camshaft signal detected during engine cranking. ** "
Does this engine even have this sensor? It will not start at all.
Everywhere I look it says they are not required, what do i do from here?

According to the 97 FSM, your 2.5L has the sensor.
