Subject: Is this a fair price for an R/T?

Message:
I want to buy this R/T, but I was wondering if the price was right. It has been stored winters and hasn't seen salt. It is a 99 R/T CC. The truck has 30k original miles, and is in excellent condition. The truck is a 1 owner, has a "Shaker Hood", flowmaster "Cat-Back" Exhaust, Stillen Front Cover, Roll Pan, and the Tail Gate, Mirrors, and Door Handles have been color matched to the truck. The Tires are Brand New. The bed has NO bed liner, but has a soft Tanoe Cover that is flush mounted with no holes drilled in the bed.
Interior is flawless down to the carpet

He wants $14,000, I was going to offer him $13,000. Do you think this is a reasonable price or is he asking too much.

Thanks for any help.

It sounds a little high. Here is what Kelly Blue Book shows for it in northern Indiana. I checked the options that my 2000 has on it. BTW, I just paid $14,000 in January for a 2000 with 9,200 miles - never in the rain or snow. It had Flowmaster single exhaust, new bed liner, tinted windows, had been rustproofed at Ziebart, and was flawless. Go to http://www.kbb.com/ and put in your Zip code and follow the instructions.

Engine: V8 5.9 Liter
Trans: Automatic
Drive: 2 Wheel Drive
Mileage: 30,000

Equipment
Air Conditioning
Power Steering
Power Windows
Power Door Locks
Tilt Wheel
Cruise Control
AM/FM Stereo
Cassette
Single Compact Disc
Premium Sound
Dual Front Air Bags
ABS (4-Wheel)
Power Seat
Sliding Rear Window
Premium Wheels
Wide Tires

Consumer Rated Condition: Excellent
"Excellent" condition means that the vehicle looks great, is in excellent mechanical condition and needs no reconditioning. It should pass a smog inspection. The engine compartment should be clean, with no fluid leaks. The paint is glossy and the body and interior are free of any wear or visible defects. There is no rust. The tires are the proper size and match and are new or nearly new. A clean title history. This is an exceptional vehicle.

Private Party Value $12,100

Considering the custom upgrades that are on the truck, I think it might be worth $14K. I agree with the $13K offer. The $12K referenced above doesn't take into consideration the flushed mounted bed cover and all the custom paint work. Those are things I want done to my R/T and I'm looking at spending way over $1,500.00 to have all that done. It sounds like you like the bed cover and custom paint yourself. If you found one for $12K you would be out another $1,500.00 to have it customized like that truck, maybe more. I think if he would take $13,000.00 you should jump on it.

I forgot about the shaker hood. I would agree with WipLash that $13k is a reasonable price to pay, provided it isn't a stripped down R/T and the condition is as nice as you say it is. Good luck.
