Subject: Best Flowmaster for '02 4.7

Message:
The Flowmaster website has several recommendations ranging from the Delta Flow 40 & 50 series, to the 50 series SUV muffler, etc.

My truck is all stock with the exception of Autolite plugs.

I do run dual 40 Series Delta Flows on a 1977 Trans Am I own and like the sound a lot, but it's got a 6.6L-400 in it and I don't know if the 4.7L will have a different sound.

I'm looking for aggressive but not obnoxious.

Not looking for an entire cat-back system, just a muffer swap.

Any suggestions/help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

well johnny, i am just getting a 2004 dak, QC , 4.7 and when it comes in i am planning on doing only a muffler swap as well. now , i am not the best on this topic and was wondering like you what the heck to go with. i was leaning toward the flowmaster 50 series (no particular reason)but i think that just changed when i went to www.dynomax.com and compared the sounds to the flowmaster ones. i think the dynomax super turbo sounded great and thats the pick for me. if anyone has any opinions feel free to fire them my way before its too late. g'day all.

I've had both the 50 and 70 series. The 50 (16" long) is naturally between the 40 and 70, but still allowed too much floorboard noise; real annoying after 100 highway miles. My personal favorite is the 70 (22"), with 2 1/2" duals after the muffler. Real nice sound out the back, but without the cab noise. I couldn't tell any performance or mpg difference between 50 and 70. I've got a RC. The QC has more interior volume, so consider the cab sound in your choice, whatever you choose.

How could you mess with a new truck, or old for that matter, and change to a blowmaster?

If you want a different sound, which is ALL your going to get, just roll the windows down.

At least do something that actually does something, as in at least a .5% increase on a dyno!

But hey, if daddy doesn't mind, spend the money, keep that worthless company taking peoples money.

I had a Flowmaster 70 with 2.25 pipes run out to the corners of the bed with a slight turndown. Looks factory and sounds great outside and quiet inside. I then added a K&N FIPK and it is LOUD under a load. This is on a 03 qc 4.7, auto, 3.92.
