HI,
I have a check engine light PO720 that I am aware of the problem on, and eventually ill fix that sensor, but I have a larger problem at stake. Being in CT, i have to undergo my emissions test very soon, or else they will revoke my registration. They do electronic tests through the OBD and they will not test a vehicle with the check engine light on. If i were to attempt the reset trick on it now and get it tested before that light comes back on, does anybody think it will give them problems when testing the vehicle because the PCM will still be somewhat deactivated? Help soon please if anyone can speak from knowledge or experience!!! Thanks a bunch,

A reset will not work. They will make you shut off your truck and restart it to see if you reset any MILs. So your MIL will come right back on after start up. They aren't dummies. You need to fix the defective part before you can even take the test. At least that's the procedure here in California.

OK thanks, even though the people here in CT are dumba$$es and they are about to revoke the program altogether, i guess its not worth it to risk it

Yeah, you could luck out and get a tester who is a bit slow on the uptake. Tell him you have a bad starter and you need to keep the truck running. Who knows, he may buy it.

Even if the light stays off for a bit when reset, their machine knows if it has been recently reset. Are you sure they check everyone though ? Next state north of you they just check that the mil light is functional (lights during starting sequence) and some few random vehicles.
