Question for everyone. I recently purchased a used 2002
quad cab 4x4 with the 4.7. I am wondering if someone can
tell me how to tell if the HD group is installed. is it more
than the battery? What else should i look for and where. i
ask because i would like to tow a trailer and want to know
how the truck is setup. Sorry if this is a stupid question. I
have also seen many dakotas with mirrors smaller than
mine, is this just that the heated mirrors are bigger or is it
part of another package?

According to the sticker on my '04 DAK:
Heavy Duty Service Group:
Battery - 750 Amp Maintenance Free
Cooler - Auxiliary Transmission Oil
Engine Cooling - Heavy Duty
I would maybe check the VIN?

should have .. trans. cooler, hitch installed w/wiring, higher output alternator, relay for signal lights, and a lower geared rear? not sure. my year they called it the towing pkg. what is a better cooling system ? a better pump ? besides a clean system and fluid, a selected degree stat.?

My '02 window sticker indicated that the "Heavy Duty Service Group" consisted of; Alternator-136amp, battery-750 amp maint. free, engine cooling-heavy duty, & cooler-aux transmission oil.

So, basically if there are other cooling elements in front of
the radiator and a 750 amp battery, I have the HD group.
And i believe i have the towing pkg because of the 7 pin
harness with 7-4 adapter. perfect. thx
