You could realy f'up the fluid and/or tranny if it's over filled. Instead of the fluid sitting in the pan it's up in the area where everything's spinning and could whip the fluid into a foamy froth.

I have over filled before. I just took 10-15' of clear tube, stuck in all the way down into the dipstick tube and siphoned the excess fluid out. It takes awhile since the fluid is kind of thick to be siphoning through small hose, but it's easier than dropping the pan. You can pickup the clear tube at Home Depot for $2, better than ruining the fluid or tranny.

If you don't want to drop the pan , take on of the trany's lines loose at the radiator and just crank the engine. A little messy but it will get the job done. Good luck.

Classic overfill for an AT? --- Did it myself in the old days.

Without knowing much detail -- you could drive it briefly in all the gears, including R (reverse) and then check the level ...

I find it funny in regards to James Leases post saying his truck is a f-ck up. He is the one who is a f-ck up. a truck can't be blamed that is obviously owned by a guy who is dumber than a tree stump, who, overfills the tranny, then thinks its the fault of the truck....LOSER!

You can suck some out of the dipstick tube with a piece of vinyl
tubing and a LARGE turkey baster or loosen the cooler line while
the engine is running (very messy).

But why would he want to do that? Just drain the fluid out by unsrewing the plug. Worked for me.

too much tranny fluid will not change your rpm when you are in gear. That is mechanical. If you are going 60 mph @ 1800 rpms (example) in overdrive, you are gonna go 60 mph @ 1800 rpms every time unless you change your gear ratio, tire size or down shift. Fluid level would not decrease your final drive ratio.

if you really want to get the fluid out of there, just unplug the speed output sensor on the drivers side of the tranny tail shaft and remove it. You will drain about a quart of fluid by doing that.

No, it sounds like the Toruqe converter is fully locked in. My Ram 1500 does the rev the same at when the o/d is engaged.

About 1200 for since I got a 360 Magnum. For a 318 it should be around 1400.
