Rich-
Thanks for the look out. Two problems...1) I have a 2001 2) Those come with just the tailgate. No handle, cables and unpainted. That's my problem it could be just as expensive to pay for it in parts then to buy it from the dealership. But thanks again for the link.

Tailgates take about 30 seconds to remove. It sucks because most likely the a$$head sold it to some other guy who had his tailgate stolen. on m last truck I just drilled a hole on the side of the tailgate that you normally lifted out to remove the tailgate. then I used a tap and threaded it for a bolt. the bolt doesnt interfere with the opening and closing of the tailgate and it makes it impossible to remove unless you have a socket and ratchet with you. i figure I never remove the tailgate anyway so it wont make a difference. and if I do its either gonna be at home or at a friends house

There's a device called the Gatekeeper which locks the tailgate in place so people can't just pull it off and walk away. It's made by Redline products, the same company who makes the Jimmi Jammer door lock plates, it doesn't interfere with your normal tailgate use either.

www.jimmijammer.com for product info
www.aztrucks.com is a good place to buy one.

I have one on my truck and it looks like it will work great if someone tries to run off with my tailgate. I'll be posting a "how to" on my site in the near future.

Hey, AZ trucks is local for me. Do you live in AZ SinCityR/T?

BTW guys. Bad f&#king news today.
My company vehicle (2000 GMC) got stolen while some co workers and I were in a seminar at a hotel. Came out and my work truck was GONE with all the company's stuff and ALL OF MY TOOLS!!!
I lost about $3000 easy in tools!

I new I should have built a booby trap. One idea for a LONG time of mine was to build an automatic anti-theft poisonous gas generator.

Easy, you use a selenoid valve to discharge a very low amount of chlorine based refridgerant (R22 works good and it only takes a LITTLE) accross a HOT glow coil. It would make Phosgene (mustard) gas and no f&#ker can steal much when they can't breath!

I swear I'm going to do it.

I also am going to build a fuel pump kill on my Dakota and Minivan. It will make you have to touch a invisible sensor each time you put the key to "ON" or the fuel pump will not operate.

I'll share the electronic schematic for that one once I build it. It should be a simple solid state circuit to connect inline with the fuel pump relay. Got to hide the wires in the electrical wiring harness though to be secure.

I've also got to do the tailgate LOCK as suggested here!

I live in Las Vegas... AZ Trucks is the company that was recommended to me by Redline Products when I ran group buys on the Jimmi Jammer and GateKeeper products awhile back.
