I just got home and this guy pulls up next to me in one of those new full-sized Nissans. He's reving up his engine, and I usually just ignore these guys. So many guys try to pick a race once they see the "R/T" on my truck. I was shocked when he started walking away! It was close, but he was definitely accelerating quicker. Do you guys think this was stock? I have a hard time believing that a big 4 door truck could do that. My R/T is stock except for Flowmaster exaust.

I have driven a Titan. I'm getting ready to upsize my Dakota and I thought it would be a Ram, but other than being a Mopar guy, I don't see any reason to buy the Ram over the Titan. It probably was stock because there isn't much in the aftermarket for them yet. They're just extremely quick for their size.

The Titan is QUICK!
There was a magazine that tested the Ram, F-150, Silverado 1500, and the Titan. They loaded the Titan with a 1000 lb payload and it still beat every other truck in acceleration. I can't seem to find the article again. Has anybody else seen this? I just hope I don't get into a race with the Titan, well I would know better than race it.

Car driver tested a Titan at 15.4 @91 mph in the 1/4 mile- thats no faster than an average R/T Dakota, or a Hemi Ram or even some 4.7 Dakotas.

So you're saying a 4x4 4 door truck than can tow over 9,000 lbs can outrun my R/T? Guess it's time for that supercharger.

Sales of those Titans are really taken off around here. I see them all the time. I'll consider one when I trade in at 75K right before major failures begin in my Dak.

I'd scheck under the hood on one of those things before I'd buy it.

Nissan makes great power for their size, etc. BUT, if you plan on tonkering with it all the past Nissan's I've had including my 2001 Altima (traded for my 2003 Dak) and my friends 2000 Frontier have tubes and wiring everywhere!
I never even changed the intake tube on my Altima because it had sensors in the RUBBER intake tube!
My sisters older Maxima, still running with well over 100k miles, is a pain to work on.

I just changed my cams in my Dakota 4.7 and it was a breeze to disconnect the wiring to the injectors and stuff, and easy to get to the cams and everything.

I can't speak for the Titan, I've never had a close look under the hood. But I'd check it out before buying it to mess with. You may want to just buy it to drive and leave alone.

thats pretty quick but u know what tops them all, i dont know if you guys said anything about this but we raced a stock ford ranger 4.0 auto against my friends r/t with headers, exhaust, and superchip but it also had 400lb of weight and lowered on 3/5 with big rims but it got beat by almost 2 trucks, 4.7 got beat by 1 truck length and its a stock 4.0 v6 .... .1liter bigger than my 3.9v6 smoking the 8s

ive heard all fords have a mustang transmission when u upgrade to the bigger engines and the 4.0 ranger is stock with 202hp in that small truck. hands down i gotta give it to them on that one.

dodge was great a few years ago but they need to step it up bigtime .... and loose the "ram-look" on all their vehicles...the durango is just plain ugly

One thing I've noticed lately is the major difference in power since companies started doing OHC and DOHC on their engines. For example, people are saying how much faster the dodge 4.7 is than the 5.9. A large part of this has to do with the overhead cam vs. the old style pushrod system. Yeah, I know the compression is different too, but for another example (couldn't think of anything better at the time), the mustang GT vs the Mach 1. Mach 1 has 40 more horsepower than the GT because it has dual overhead cams (like the Titan). I have a friend that soups up volvo's and he put a dual overhead cam head off of a marine engine on his car and instantly gained 30 horsepower. I think our R/T's with pushrod valve trains are just eating dust right now. Its obsolete technology. Maybe im wrong, but its just something to think about.
