I've own various trucks my whole life. Every dodge i ever owned...
1.) Blew the tranny at some point in time
2.) SHook like it was having a seizure
3.) Was an immense piece of garbage

And no, i dont beat my trucks...i treat them like gold. My first Dodge Ram i bought new straight off the assembly in 1995 and the transmission blew at 800 friggin miles...i didnt even tow anything with it yet...and barely went above 50 and had light takeoffs to break it in. the 318 V8 is all metal...no power.

I bought a Chevy S10 with the 2.2L, and are extremely happy with it. Last week, i pulled a 2001 Dodge Dakota out of a snowdrift...the Dak had a V6. My little S10 with its 2.2L and 4.11 rear with locker pulled him right out

The moral of the story? 3 words..

Chevy... "LIKE A ROCK"

My next truck will be another Chevy...I dont trust any chrysler product out there anywhere. They're unreliable, unsound pieces of garbage. I know of 10 people who had problems with both the Dak and Ram, and thousands who have similar problems.

WARPED ROTERS!? YOu'll NEVER find it on a chevy

PISTON SLAP, you'll never find it on a Dodge! What's easier to replace, a set of rotors or a set of pistons?

And you came here,,,, why?

I owned a chevy S-10 with a 2.2L once and it would hardly pull itself off a speed bump. It's hard for me to believe that you could pull anything out of a snow drift.I guess you own the one out of a million that can. Small toys for small boys. LOL

I used a 100' snatch strap and gave her all I had, by the time the S-10 hit the end of the strap we were going realy fast, could have snatched out a new Peterbuilt by how hard I was pulling!

Or was it,, I could have had a new peter built from how hard the snatch was pulling on my strap?

Either way it makes for a good story. LOL

You pulled a dak out of a snow drift....congratulations, did you drive through the same drift? Did the dak have bald tires, and no weight, while you have studded snows, and 200 lbs in the bed? The ram blew the tranny because you probably left it idling in park too much! When the older rams were in park, the front pump (there are 2) in the transmission would not work. It was designed that way to keep it cooler, but was a crappy idea, so they fixed them! If you set the brake,a nd put it in neutral, it would be working to this day. We have 164'000 on a 96 ram 360 auto and have never left it idle in park....guess what----original trans. You go buy all the chevy's you want, and I'll be driving the faster, better looking, longer lasting dakota that just burned you at the light. I drive everything like I stole it, and have had many mopars go over 200'000, and a lot go over 150'000, but sold them all, never junked one!!! As far as I'm concerned, you can suck a fart out of my ass!

The Colorado and the GMC Canyon were sounding pretty good to me until I heard what engine they were putting in it. Why didn't they just offer the Six that comes in the Envoy/Trailblazer.
The other thing that was really a turn off for me was the interior. I hate the plastics GM uses in their vehicles. I was hoping they would step out of their box on this one. It doesn't compare very well to the Dakota.

not all chevy's have piston slap, you don't have to change the pistons.its caused by ring flutter.99% of the time its not harmful to the engine.it is kinda gay you guys bringing it up EVERYTIME,especially when we're talking about engines not affected by it.you guys get pissed of WAY to easy, thats why chevy guys post on here,to f*ck with ya'll.

Ring flutter,,, Bull chit!

I did an el-cheap'o rering/rebuild on my 181 ci boat engine and just honed the cyliners and popped the old pistons back in with new rings. The motor makes the same noise as new chevy motors, "pistons too small for bores = Piston slap".

I have run the engine for 4-5 years now and it hasn't blown, even though it sounds like it's going to. Just sounds like crap with the piston slap.

New chevy motors with piston slap sound like 30 year old boat engines with a cheap rebuild??? Give me a break

Why do the chevy guys come over here and wine about the Dak brake rotors when they have bigger fish to fry in their own camp?

I have never had a oil burner, but I've had gas mopar trucks for the last 30 years, used nothing but mopars when I was in the construction industry, love them... currently have a 01 quad cab Dakota 4x4 and my old 87 dak v6 with 200k plus miles. Only ford I ever had was a early 70s 1 ton 4x4. within 4 years the cab had rusted down over the frame. Bought a dually Chevy truck next, had that converted 350 oil burner... lasted about 20k, 2nd engine about 42 or 3k, traded it in on a dodge and never looked back.

The wife and I have owned two suburbans now, will switch to a darango when the wife's ride is used up. Warped rotors, several sets on the burb, has never passed a smog test with out several hundred in work. In fact, this last burb has been the highest cost per mile and highest maintenance cost auto I've ever owned.

One other thing, just as a side note, I had a co-worker with a S-10 with a 350/350 swap in it challenge me to a pulling contest a year or so ago. I drug him across the parking lot back-wards until his tranny gave up.

Ive never had piston slap on any chevy ever.

I really dont care what Dodge people think...my last chevy lasted 321,000 miles before i sold it for a new S10. I love chevy and i'll never go back to a dodge.

and no, the rear diff doesnt break...ive NEVER had them break. You dodge people have watch one chevy have something wrong with it, and right away the whole line is bad...type "Dodge Ram Problems" or "Dodge Dakota Problems" into any search engine, and it speaks for itself.

Dodge/Chrysler service shops are also humongous jokes.

What people say about my chevy doesnt really bother me. When your dodge takes a big Sh*t one day, you'll wish you had a chevy.

Ahem, for one thing, Chrysler transmissions suck, they are too sensitive to everything, put in neutral and put on the brake? Come on now... For another, there is no way in he*l Ford has better transmissions than Chevy. For trucks/SUVs, I get Chevy. For cars I get Chevy. For a fun, sporty car, I get something other than Ford/GM/Chrysler. But I don't get mad at someone who owns a Dodge truck, who gives a frog's fat ass? I will drive my Chevys, everyone else can drive whatever the hell they want. Someone said Chevy owners are too uptight, hahaha most of the posters on here are too uptight, getting all defensive about their trucks.
