I've been running SilverStars for about 8 months now. I got them for the same reason you want them...critters big and small. Seem to work well. I get flashed by all the townies when I drive on their well lit streets.

I agree about the Silverstars. I have had them probably about the same amount of time, big improvement ove stock. If you want to be LEGAL about it, they are the way to go. If you could care less about legality, then put in whatever you can find that won't melt your harness.

I am so glad I will never buy a used vehicle again.

i have had higher wattage bulbs since four days after i bought my truck. i bought street glow 100/80w bulbs and they kick butt. they don't melt the wires and light everything up 200% better. if you keep your truck completely stock you should still invest in higher wattage bulbs.

spitz, where did you get your 80w? I was running the 80/100w clear replacements from JC Whitney and they werent too bad. Never hurt my harness either.

Don't go higher wattage- if anything ever happens (crash, someone hits, cop pulls you over you blah blah blah) You will find out that by having non DOT items will cost you in the long run.
I got ALMOST got ding by a state trooper once on my motorbike... I have a PIAA superwhite headlight. He almost made me remove it right then and there. HUH... then how was I to ride it home with out a light on? Same thing when I went to get it inspected last year - the guy looked at the headlight and could tell it was not legal. If I ever get in a wreck and someone decides to say that it some how it was due to my head light (some how) and they look at it... non DOT and now I am at fault!!!
Try to stay as legal as possible - get DOT approved items.

PS... I hate these ricers that put the clear lenses on... look like crap and are most likely not legal!

Good luck.....

I've always gone to 55/90s on my motorcycles. As long as your low beams are legal and you aren't high beaming people no one gets hurt and you're not likely to get caught.

The Central Timer Module doesn't go bad when using the 100W bulbs?

The factory service manual wiring diagrams indicate teh headlights are wired directly into the CTM and powered by "drivers", rather than using a headlight relay like they used to.

I haven't replaced my bulbs because of this. Last thing I need is to have to purchase a CTM and have the dealer program it.
