This looks to be a good priced PVC solution intake on EBay and not much more cost than if I made one myself. I think i will bid or wait to see if another one come up for auction.

I have shopped for parts on Ebay for sometime. This looks like a good deal. I like the concept of using a separate filter for the breather hose. What is the breather hose for anyway??

That dude may actually be screwing his customers without meaning to. That hose with the "filter" is supposed to connect to the intake tube directly. It is not TAKING IN air. It is LETTING OUT air which is "vacuumed" out by the airflow in the intake tube. By putting a filter on it, he has plugged it up and the crankcase cannot ventilate itself. If he rev's the motor too high, he may blow a headgasket from the pressure. Hope he finds out in time......

That looks pretty close to my intake that I made.
But I hooked up my breather to the intake pipe there is no reason to have a another filter. He could of at least painted it.

Check out my site, it shows the intake.

Anthony that's a great looking intake. I was thinking of using 3 1/2" or 4" tubing and using a flange to step it down right at the TB to allow for the 72mm TB that is apparently in the works. It will also allow for the narrowing in I also wanted to fiberglass the elbos and sand them to make it look less home made and finish it in red. My truck is Black but I thought red and crome detialing would look nice in the engine compartment. I wanted to also get red snap on conduit to replace all the factory black conduit and braided hoses.

Thanks Jeffster, it doesn't take much to build. But the end result was worth everything. I still have to make the heat shield, so it blocks the hot air from the fan and junk getting shot at the filter.

Good looking intakes guys. I guess I need to throw my $.02 in as well. I put a drop-in K&N filter in the stock box. Removed the front snorkel and took the air box and a roto-zip and cut a large hole in the rear and 2 large holes on both sides. Then I took a 3 inch rubber 90 and hooked to the tb and used a 4 inch long piece of 3 inch pvc to connect the stock flex hose to the 90. All you can see is the black 90 and the flex hose, cant see the pvc at all. Huge difference in response and power now. I know I am probably not getting quite as much air flow as you guys but for $10 (for the 90) and 20 minutes of cutting the holes in the air box and assembly, its a BIG improvement over stock. Probably going to get a 3 inch dia. piece of rubber tubing to replace the stock flex hose with later. Dont have any pictures yet but will have them on my web site as soon as I can get them developed.

After seeing this guy/gal pictures, I can see how easy these intakes are to make so I may do my own but his/hers seems reasonably priced considering the cost of the k&n and pvc parts. But, once again and it seems there are different opinions on this, IS the hose that connects to the stock air box an intake or "outtake."??? i started my engine a few minutes ago and temporarily pulled this hose off the stock air box and then put a thin piece of plastic over the end of this hose. It appears to suck in the plastic which leads me to believe it is an air intake. Is it an intakeor outtake and for what???? HELP!!! for those of you that have made your own, what kind of fitting do you use and how install the fitting??

Dakdak your talking about the PCV pipe which vent the crankcase. If you look closely to my intake picture you can see at the first elbow a black tube running from underneath. I did it this way, so you don't see this tube on top of the intake. It's cleaner looking my way.

The fitting I used for the PVC connection to the intake was a 3/4" copper screw fitting. I bought it at the home depot for $1.00. It's in the plubing section, I also bought a couple of 3/4" clamps for securing the pipe to the copper fitting and one to the stock PVC pipe, I needed to make it alittle longer for my application. I drilled a 3/4" hole in the ABS elbow and wrenched on the fitting, it was a very tight fit. The fitting will never move.

Check the pics at my site, you should be able to see the little tube running under the elbow.

Ya like anthony says that pipe is part of the pcv system and yes it is supposed to have suction there. It draws filtered fresh air into the crankcase then drawn through the pcv valve into the intake manifold you can plumb a pipe fitting like anthony did very easily,I like the way 99durango`s looks,I got the z-tube now so too late to make my own, never thought about it.Good idea guys oh I would suggest you get a S&B pro flow filter they have deeper pleats and a better bell design than K&N`s

I have a K&N crankcase vent filter on my valve cover in place of the factory PCV valve tubing that orginally led from the valve cover to the TB on my 95' 2.5. Am I at a risk of damage? I thought that was what the K&N crankcase vent filters are for? It is a little chrome topped conical filter that I ordered direct from them for like 20 bucks. Should I go back to the original setup? Bernd?????????

Small hose an intake or outtake?? I always thought the pcv system vents gases that get past the cylinder rings into the crankcase and then back into the air intake to help reduce emissions. Therefore, this gas would not be putting pressure on the headgaskets resulting in a blown head gasket. Correct or I am a low engine IQ guy??!?!?! If the hose is an intake, a small separate filter would seem to work and all the air thru the cone can go to the TB. If the vacumn from the intake is suppose to pull air out of this small hose, then a separate small filter would still allow venting from positive pressure in the engine but not forced venting from negative pressure from the intake(vacumn). HELP??!?!?!?!

Also, this thin hose from the stock air box connects to thin wall plastic tubing. I don't think thin wall plastic tubing would be used to vent hot crankcase gases. More evidence this is an air intake. Help!?!?!?! intake or outtake??

A LITTLE CRANKCASE FILTER IS FINE

The hose that connects to the air intake is definately part of the pcv system. That hose (even though it seems to suck toward the air intake) is actually the intake side of the PCV system. Fresh air is pulled into the engine from that hose, through the engine, through the pcv valve and into the intake manifold or throttle body (depending on the engine). Just remember the PCV valve sucks air FROM the engine. The PCV valve is not on the hose that is in question here. If you disconnect the hose from the PCV valve and hold your finger over it you will feel a real suction. The suction that you are feeling on the hose conected to the air intake is nothing compared to that.

Thanks for all the comments. now that we all know the small hose is an air INTAKE, I feel confident that the item on EBAY I mentioned in my first comment will work adequateley with no risks to head gaskets. By the way, the BY IT NOW PRICE was $150 but the starting bid was $78 for the EBay intake. It is at $82 last I checked. May not look as well as IntensePerformance.com setup but should give same gains and save me $$$$$.

so by replacing the PCV valve that led to the TB with a K&N crankcase filter I am hindering the sucking of the spent gases, etc. from entering the TB. Should I replace the tubing that leads to the factory air box with the crankcase filter, not the PCV tubing, right? So it's kind of like a air in air out setup (the PCV system that is)? I already have the crankcase filter, so should I put it in where the air is being drawn into the engine as opposed to where I have it now, the PCV valve place?? Help soon to avoid damage

Yes, reconnect the pcv valve and put the crankcase filter on the intake side. Yes, it is an air in air out system. It circulates fresh air through your engine and also eliminates crankcase pressure.

Would there be any advantage to having 2 tubes going to the throttle body? What if there were 2 smaller diameter tubes, would that create any more flow? Just some abstract ideas. Let me know what you think.

Would add extra cost and no room to run 2 tubes under hood. 3 inch tube delivers more than enuff air.
