The V6 you describe has a bunch of Gee-Wizz parts you can add later if you want.
The V8 has power you can't add later. The tonneau cover will also improve you're mileage.
You're better off checking posts on new tire choices and getting good rubber in 8 months than living with the stock Goodyears .
Get the V8 , it's a no-brainer in my eyes.
I have a 2001 QC, 4.7 V8 ,3.55 rear,4x4 and love it.
I also tow a 17 foot boat with it and can only praise the Dakota.

Here's some music for you.

No wait. That's the sound of my Dakota!
(Turn up your speakers and click refesh or the F5 key to restart if you don't see a player).

GET the V8

That loud V6 will never ever ever ever sound like a V8.

you bone head. My STOCK 3.9 has more HP and torque then a '90 with a 5.2 wanna run me? honest to betsy all I have is a CC 3.9 3.55 auto and it consistantly out runs much older eights of the same vintage as your 14 year old dog is.
GO MAGNUM
DAMM why would you hate yourself just because of an engine? seams a bit infantile to me!

FORJD,
I want to see what 1990 5.2L Dakota you ran. The first year for the 5.2L was 1991. The first year for the 5.2L Magnum was 1992. In 1989, Shelby converted a few 3.9L Daks into 5.2L and called them Shelby Dakotas.

Y'all might want to read jd's post again. He said his 1990 has a 3.9 and he's building a 5.2 Magnum for a swap.

99DAK,
My statement was directed towards the FORJD post not the post the real JD made. FORJD was defending the 3.9L. I was slamming FORJD for the dumn statement he made about out running 1990 5.2L since there is no such thing. I think you need to re-read all 3 of the last post.

Gentlemen, it seems we have digressed here into petty squabbles and postings of meaningless audio loops?
Thanks to all, I got the general feel for the V6 vs. V8 issue I was debating and I made an offer for the V8. Thanks for all the opinions. Signing off for now...Redline
