**Please forward this to all appropriate truck clubs, Dodge/Mopar/Dakota
clubs, mailing lists/chats, etc. Thanks!**

Here is the final update and details of the Maryland DML meet and
SportTruck show at Edgewood Firestone. I am expecting over 30 trucks at
this moment, and get more responses every day. The meet is part of the
Firestone FunFest, which is a weekend event, Friday-Sunday. Everyone is
welcome to come on Friday and Sunday too. Here are details of the
weekend. Firestone is providing the Best Lite II trailer which houses 2
Indy Race Cars. These will be on display Friday 12-8, Saturday 9-5, and
Sunday 9-3. The National Guard is supposedly bringing an 8Ft high
HumVee over for at least 1 day. The local Fire Departments are bringing
Firetrucks and ambulances every day. Local dealers are bringing their
coolest new cars over (Corvette convertible, PT Cruiser, Dakota
Motorsport) for display on various days. I have 2 different live bands
playing Saturday starting at 1:00. A local radio station will be at the
shop Friday evening from 4-5 giving away freebies, and will have their
RaceTruck on display. We are also sponsoring a charity drive for the
Harford Food Bank. They will accept canned/boxed foods, but requested
other items such as toiletries, diapers, etc....
Friday's main event: Corvettes, 3:00 til past dark
Saturday's main event: SportTrucks, 12:00 til ??
Sunday's main event: Custom cars, antiques, muscle cars, basically
open to anything, 9:00 til 4:00
I have approximately 40 vettes coming Friday, over 30 vehicles Saturday,
and very low turnout so far on Sunday. There are 2 other cruises going
on Sunday, so I'm hoping that the word will get spread and people will
go to each cruise. If you are in the local area and can come Sunday
with any type of vehicle, please let me know.
I will provide the shop's scanner to have fun checking codes and
looking at data streams, plus will provide a drive up lift to be able to
peek under vehicles and poke around. No repairs will be allowed unless
it is normal maintenance performed by Firestone with a written work
order and paid for by the owner.
There are plenty of places to eat nearby-local bowling alley, IHOP,
Wendy's, KFC, McD's, Taco Bell, and so on. I am looking for someone to
bring their gas grill so that people can bring their own food like
hotdogs/hamburgers/BBQ etc and can cook out and have fun. Bring your
own food and refreshments if you like, and assume that I will have found
a volunteer for the grill. Beer will not be sold on the premises, as
Firestone of course does not have a liquor license. If you bring your
own beer, it will not bother me, but you must be discreet with it, as
Maryland has an open container in public places law, and if you get
intoxicated, I will have to remove you from the premises!
Other area events you may wish to see if you are traveling: Oriole
Park at Camden Yards, Fort McHenry, Baltimore's Inner Harbor with Hard
Rock cafe and other sites, Historic Fells Point, all 30 minutes south.
Boat launches onto Bush River and Chesapeake Bay within 20 minutes.
Aberdeen military ordinance museum- 15 minutes. Havre de Grace decoy
Museum-20 minutes.
Directions to the store: from all points north and south: Take
Interstate 95 into Maryland, exiting at exit 74, Mountain Road, Route
152. Take the exit ramp towards Joppa/Magnolia which is bearing to the
right coming northbound, and turning left at the end of the exit heading
southbound. This exit is approximately 15 miles north of Baltimore/Fort
McHenry tunnels, and 15 miles south of the I95 bridge over the
Susquehanna River coming into Harford County. After exiting I95, go to
the 2nd traffic light approximately 1 1/2 miles and turn left onto
Pulaski Highway, Route 40, heading east towards Edgewood/Aberdeen.
Proceed 1 1/2 miles, (immediately down a steep hill and back up the
other side until the road levels out in Edgewood) and look for the
Edgewater Village Shopping Center on your right (HollyWoodVideo in the
front, 7-11 just before the shopping center) Go PAST the shopping
center, turning right at the Crown Gasoline station at the far end of
the shopping center, and you'll see Firestone just behind the gas
station. See if there is any way to pull into the parking lot, and look
for me for directions of where to go and for sign in. Expect it to be
pretty busy by 12:00.
I am taking final registration at this point. The point of this
registration is to get a final tally of approximately how many vehicles
will be there, and on which days.
If you plan on attending, please send me 1 final e-mail, by
cut-and-paste, or fax it to me. email to patrickandkelly@erols.com, and
fax to 410-679-7916.
