Subject: 94 ext. cab/room for carseat?
IP: Logged

Message:
I found a '94 V6 Dakota extended cab for sale in the newspaper and when I inquired I was told it has a bench seat. I am wondering if a carseat can be secured back there and if there are shoulder harness-type seat belts in the back. Thanks for any info you can provide, I have been unable to find a pic of the interior of one.

There are 2 shoulder belts back there, but if you're wanting to put a real car seat back there forget it! These things are OK for youngsters to ride in the back or a very small (4'11, 90#) adult. You try to put a real seat back there and the front of the seat will be almost touching the back of the front seats. The CC on the Dakota is there mostly so you can throw things in the back instead of the bed. It's for your personal convenience and not really for hauling extra passengers. Babby seats can be teathered easily back there. They have the lap straps just for that.

I don't recommend anyone to ride in the middle of the back seat on a CC Dakota. There is no shoulder belt for the middle passenger and there is nothing in front of you to keep you from being hurled through the front windshield.
