Sorry for the off topic post, but I love speedvision and would hate to see it go. Got this off of Moparchat:

Speedvision was just acquired by FOX and may be turned into a 24/7 NASCAR channel.
Please go to this link and sign the petition to keep Speedvision the way it is.

jeff i would like to save speedvision but i dont get it from my cable company.fox has been trying to be the only carrier for nascar and i guess this is there only way to get the whole year is to have a station total dedicated to nascar.i am glad for that because fox has the best coverage i ever seen so im glad for that.also that would mean that station would without a doubt be picked up by my cable company.i have heard a lot of great things about speedvision but just like all corporate take overs there is nothing you can do.
sorry jeff but this will enhance nascar no early cut off due to regular programming, full coverage
start to finish and minimal commercials.

Sure, having no commercials would enhance the race, but they only race once a week. Why would they have to make it a 24/7 NASCAR only channel? Speedvision is the only channel left that shows roadracing, motorcycle racing, MotorVision, Road & Track, and many other great shows, and was the #1 reason I got digital cable. Too bad you dont have the channel durtydog, or you would see what I'm saying. Anyway, sign it or dont, I dont care, just letting everyone who likes Speedvision know where the petition is. I signed it yesterday and was #256. Right now its up to 25360, so you would think FOX might get a clue and leave it as it is, just showing the race live, not re-runs everyday.

durtydog, sorry to have to say this, and don't
take it personally, but there is more to
motorsports and racing than just NASCAR.

I personally mostly watch NASCAR when they
run on road courses such as the 'Glen and
Sears Point. I am more an F1 fan, as well as
rallying and sports car racing (such as GT
class cars that run at LeMans, Sebring,
Daytona for endurance events).

Speedvision really is the only outlet here in
North America for those forms of racing that
I've listed above, as well as awesome
motorcycle racing coverage which I'm not into
but am sure many are. If Speedvision goes
100% NASCAR, then guys like me won't have
*any* chance to watch the forms of racing that
we like.

Hopefully FOX doesn't change much if
anything at all.

Cheers,
Luc

Well if they did that then who's to keep sombody else from picking up the content dropped by speedvision? If there is money in it then somebody will do it, Fox has plenty of channels they can put the Nascar on it seems like they really just want the slot and the name. If Speedvision is a moneymaker the way it is now, somebody else will just pick up the coverage and run with it. I like Speedvision sometimes but more often then not it's motorbike racing, or old biker movies that don't interest me much. Personally I think Nascar should stick with broadcast TV or they will slow the popularity boom they have seen lately. It really needs to be available to everybody on any given Sunday to keep the sport growing. If you stick it on something like Speedvision that is probably in only 20% of the homes nationwide and you may see a loss of new fans. In other words regardless of who is the highest bidder for rights, Nascar should also consider exposure and long term growth.

guys hold on here i know there is more to racing and its not just nascar.also a big fan of indy and bike racing.i said i heard a lot of good things about speedvision,i only wish i could
get it with my cable company!hopefully things will work out because fox has a couple of stations.i dont need to see 24 hours of nascar but i do need to see the before during and after of a race and being on the primary fox 5 station your not getting that.believe me i feel for you !
there is just no way they would do away with all the other motorsports coverage.
no hard feelings just opinions.

does this mean nascar will be on cable only? there are some of us in this country that live too far in the boonies to get cable. this was my first year to see alot of nascar races since fox started showing it.

The deal was Fox had the 1st half of the season. CBS has most of the 2nd half. A few will be on TBS.

Ya i heard that fox is going to lose nascar to cbs because all of there announcers are getting put to other uses and the old guys that were there last year are coming back with cbs. So if fox doesnt even own the rights to NASCAR then how are they going to make a nascar channel.
