Last time I looked, Dodge was no less and no more foreign than Toyota or Nissan.

Nissan is controlled by Renault (37%CI) while GM has a "strategic investment" in Toyota. Dodge is a wholly owned subsidiary of DaimlerChrysler, a German company.

Out of Toyota, Nissan and Dodge, Dodge is the most foreign.

Kind of puts a new spin on the logic some of these rednecks use to bash "foreign" trucks.

Call them what you want, there is only 3 auto manufactures in the US still going that were here originally 80-100 years ago. Mercedes may own part of Dodge, but Dodge still has it's own operations that reside in the US and they make the majority of their own decisions. Toyota, Nissan, and Honda still have their home offices in Japan.

WipLash,

I account for the extra weight from one of the links at toyota.com, which has a toyota representative saying that the new X-runner is bigger. From what I have seen in the truck industry, bigger usually means an extra 300-500lbs depending how much bigger the truck size was increased.

Definitely, mid 14s for a not so stock truck is sweet in my book(I don't count supercharged trucks as stock). As far as the Ls, I've seen a few stock 99s(still had dealer paper plates) pull 13.9-14.2s at my local track. Unless the track conditions are horrible, a somewhat experienced driver should at least hit low 14s. Ya, a mid 14 second supercharged S-runner (not stock in my book) should beat a stock R/T, but then again why would any R/T owner stay stock?

Oh, if you have doubts about the M-1 intake (read your concerns in a different post), let me tell you that it is worth it. Don't do just the M-1 though, match it with a good set of R/T heads.

wiplash,

You're totally full of BS. Dodge isn't owned in part by Mercedes. Dodge is totally owned by Mercedes. Thaie head office is in Stuttgart, Garmany. The operations in Auburn Hills is just a rubber stamp. Guys like you are in complete denial of the facts. Dodge is German. Wholey and completely.

Toyota and GM have a joint venture called New United Motor Manufacturing Inc, which was founded in 1984 and makes cars and trucks like the Toyota Tacoma, Toyota Corolla and GM's Pontiac Vibe.

You'd know that if you were any bit of an enthusiast. Toyota's market capitalisation is more than $110 billion, compared with GM's $24 billion and more than the combined values of GM, Ford and DaimlerChrysler.

You have no cred. Your bitch is white. STFUMOFO!
