Subject: Oil Change Interval

Message:
SORRY GUYS, but I have to ask AGAIN!
I have 3600 miles on my 03 QC 4.7 4X4 with auto trans. Last oil change was 11/15, and it had 2500 miles when I last changed. YES, 1000 miles in 3 months. I currently use dino oil, but will be switching to Mobil 1. I don't want to void warranty, how far could I stretch my oil changes with synthetic as opposed to dino?
Thanks,
Ken

I personally think with the price of cars and trucks being what they are today and rising yearly.why do we try pinch pennies on oil changes.we pay 20,000 or more for a truck and try to save a few bucks on a oil change doesn't make sense.if you change the oil yourself you can use mobil 1 oil & filter about 25.00 evey 3000 miles and you don't have to worry.I also never understood getting an oil analysis you can change your oil for the price of the analysis.my theory is the oil gets dirty over time and should be changed every 3000 miles in order to keep the engine clean.would we extend our daily personal hygeine if someone offered a soap that lasted 3 times as long would we think of going a week without a bath.I hope not.

Dino oil changes every 5K. My old Ranger's 2.3 was the best functioning part of the truck when I traded. It will be the same for my Dak at least until 50-60K.

Thanks. I just wanted to know what to do with a low mileage engine, none of the existing posts answered that. I did check all of the posts; I'll stick with changing every 6 months, April and October. I've done this with all my other vehichles after I switched to Mobile 1, so I guess I'm ok with this vehichle. As long as I keep my receipts, I'll change my wifes oil at the same interval, except I'll change hers in August and February, that way I have receipts to show the dealer I changed every 3 months for warranty purposes.

What kind of LUBE would you recommend that I use with my girlfriend? She is 18 but lotsa miles on her. I got her new at 15 and have driven her about 5 times a week for the last 2 1/2 years, about 1/2 hr. each time.
