IMHO... no. In cases like this tryin to get a good deal can often bite you in the ass, as you end up spending as much or more in the end on rebuilding this thing as you would have spent on a more complete truck in the first place. This is of course assuming your primary motivation here is to come out better financially than by paying more for a complete truck.

IF on the other hand you are actually looking for a vehicle to rebuild then that's a whole different story. If you do the work yourself or can do it for cheap, or want to do some cusom body work, it might be a fun little project. But if you're thinkin of buyin it then drivin to the nearest bodyshop to replace the stock panels with new factory sheet metal, it doesn't make much sense to me. With bodywork, the parts are often even more expensive than the whole.

Buddy of mine in college bought a 500 dollar CRX that needed 2 grand in engine and suspension work when all was said and done, and this wasn't mods, just repairs. Made me wonder... why didn't he just get a 2500 dollar car instead?

Personally, I would add up the price for putting on left and right side fenders, hood, grille, front and rear bumpers, and a bed. Then shop for a more complete truck that costs about that much.

If it needs all that on initial inspection it makes you wonder what other damage was done and what else is in need of repair. Frame bent, chassis completely toast, suspension? In my experience a vehicle that's been damaged significantly no matter how much $$ you dump into it will never drive quite "right".. Just my HO..
