Anyone else with Quad Cabs noticing wind noise at around 50 mph at about mirror height on the A-piller. Also it was windy today and I could hear the wind blowing in that area but I hadn't even pulled out of my driveway yet. I couldn't feel a breeze but I sure could hear it. I don't believe it's wind noise from the mirror though.

You know, I get a buffeting sound in my quad cab when I roll the rear windows down at highway speeds. It actually vibrates the whole damn cab. I'm thinking the windows were up when they did the wind tunnel testing...hehe.

Hey Blue,

I have '02 Quad with the same situation as yours. I've been in car washes and no leakage to proove any leakage. It sounds like the air is traveling thru the outside mirrors some how. Is anybody else experimenting the same thing? Dont want to take to dealer. Those boneheads are worthless when it comes to resolving situations under warranty.

I deal with the exact same thing from my 03 QC. I've had the local dealer call in their "aero specialist" and he claims everything is fine and no leaks are there. The wind noise at that A-pillar is flat out annoying, especially into a head wind.

I've looked and they have a cheap little foam pad between the two seals on the edge of the door right there at the bottom of the A-pillar. I've considered using something beefier but haven't yet. I'd be VERY interested to hear others responses on this. I've torn these boards apart looking for a viable solution but never did find anything legit. Anyone?

mj, I feel the same way about the dealer...the usual run around. I've look through all the boards but haven't really found anything either so I figured I'd post.
One thing I've noticed is that there is a seam on the A-piller in the area where I think the noise is coming from. Just a thought but when I move the stripping aside at that seam when I'm on the highway it's no worse so I don't know.
I know on mine if I open the back doors sight down the upper stripping the front doors are close but they aren't snug against it.
I have an '03 and checked the door alignment and it looks good.

Has anyone tried adjusting the door strike post or latch mechanism to pull the door in more? I don't have a Quad yet, but I'm buying a used one as soon as I find it.

My doors are aligned pretty good but I did try to move it a bit but it didn't help.
Oh yeah the seam is on the door A-piller.

I'm not sure there is a fix for it.

I was noticing the airflow patterns when I was driving in the rain the other day. The air splits and flows around the sides of the cab, according to the patterns in the water on the hood. It appears the airflow is fairly laminar, not very turbulent, at the hood level. I would think it is the turbulence around the actual mirrors you are hearing, and perhaps across the gap between the door and front fender/A-pillar.

Mine does not bother me anymore. After three years you don't notice it.

A bug shield may make the noise go away. Or you could get tires with more aggressive tread so you hear road noise rather than wind noise... But that would be like stomping on your foor to make a headache go away.

Thanks for the input Dave. It's not too bad I guess like the noise people are getting from the new Rams.
