They seem to work great on the 4.7L's...but not on the regular Magnum Engines - Loss of power, pinging, mis-fires, etc. (That's on the 3.9/5.2/5.9L.)

Stay with the MOPAR stuff, Bosch has a notorious tendancy to "give up" under a charged load. The plugs will load quite easily...

I would suggest not using these plugs in the
4.7L!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! From what i understand
that the platnium plugs will eventually destroy
the indivdual coils in this motor....i tried them
and it caused more problems than it was worth!!! I
had low idle speeds with some misfiring, and no
power....swtiched back to a copper core plug and
the idle has been fine and lots of power....go and
switch in a set of 5224's or the 3923's!!!!! you
haev better luck with them!!!!

after i got the truck, i reset the computer and
all and it still gave me problems. I had asked you
before on here what you thought of them and what
you thought and i believ you and som others told
me to switch to the copper core....but yeah the
idle when from the normal 500-600 rpm at still, to
about 400-500 with the bosch, and when you would
driving and then come to a stop the truck would
have a surge where the rpms would go high then low
to almost stall and then return but it would
Hickup a little, like it wanted to stall, that is
when i said enough and got the autolites!!!

Take it for what it's worth. The original +4's that people were trying didn't work...that's where the 3923's came into the picture. These seem to be working on several 4.7L owners trucks.

Surprised to see so many negative responses to these +4 plugs. Installed them in my '97 5.2 and they've already payed for themselves in allowing me to tow my fifth wheel on regular gas without pinging! (by the way, Dakota's are probably not really suitable for towing. The gas mileage is not great and the tank is small. The biggest nuisance in towing is trying to find a pump where you can steer around with a 25' trailer tagging along. And being narrower than a full size pickup, the mirrors have to stick out that much farther. The seats were absolutely terrible - remember people who tow trailers probably sit in them longer than people just commuting back and forth - until I raised the front edge 1 1/2": now they're just "acceptable".)

I put +4s in my truck with NO PROBLEMS. I
have no detonation (ping), just got over 400
miles to a tank on mostly highway driving.

A couple of weeks ago, I towed a SAAB 900
Turbo (loaded) on a trailer over 100 miles - at
various highway speeds (up to 75 mph),
climbing hills and having a great time. Sure,
the tranny was busy, but I helped by using the
O/D-Off when appropriate.

I've heard the warnings about their affect on DI
cassettes (individual coils), but my wife's '91
SAAB 9000 Turbo cooks along just fine with
'em. I also have a points-type ignition car with
the +4s and they work great, too. When they
were changed (part of a major tune), they
looked fine.

Hey guys all modern name brand spark plugs that I am aware of includeing bosch platniums and denso iridums have solid coper core. Only the tip of the center electrode and the outer electrode are made out of rare elements. So if you install say denso iridums your are still useing copper core conductor plugs. Most platnium plugs idle a little rougher then non-exoctic metal plugs because they have a much broader heat range. I have run bosch platniums since 1988 and this is normal in most applications but only at idle. I have not tried the bosch plus 4 plug yet but my father has been running these for 30,000 miles and has had great luck with them. P.S. MY 2001 Quad Cab runs a little rough and miss's at it's low 500-550 rpm idle speed with it's stock plugs.

I put these in my 97 5.2 about a year ago because I didn't want to chnage plugs again for quite a while. Supposed to last longer. We'll see.

I have not noticed any performance changes either good or bad. I would say that since I have noticed no changes that they were overpriced and perhaps I would be better off with your run of the mill Autolites.

Well heres my experience with these plugs,I have worked on many different cars and trucks and have seen nothing but bad things about them. For example alot of camaro guys have pulled those plugs out to check them after a few thousand miles and OH MY GOD whats this?????The Bosch +4 is now a bosch +3!!!!This is a fact,it happens, and guess where that 4th piece of the spark plug is,thats right, imbedded in your piston, after it scratched and dinged up your valves and cylinder walls.I personally have used a few different cars to try various plugs including Accel,Bosch,NGK,Champion, and autolites, and heres the deal,if your car or truck came from the factory with platinum plugs, use Autolite platinum's,if it didnt, use regular Autolites. All these special plugs do nothing for horse power, buy Autolites, set your gap perfectly and call it a day, replace them about every 25,000 to 50,000 miles, personal prefrence and mods will decide on the mileage.Dont waste your money on these gimmick's , they dont work , thats why Splitfire gets sued constantly.

1) Most platnum plugs are not marketed for performance improvement!!!2) The purpose of platnium is to extend service intervals. 3) AC DELCO has an equal number of problemes with all of their plugs copper and platnium. 4) Most plug problems can be traced back to the purchaser and installer makeing mistakes.5) Almost all manufactures will replace plugs if they are defective.6) Bosch does have higher quality issues then most manufactures of spark plugs.7) always torgue plugs to spec.8)Do not use anti sieze compound on plugs; I used to do this before I spoke with the AC Product specialist in charge of spark plugs.9)You should never go hotter then stock and if you should do this stop at one heat range and always make sure the proper style of plug is being used.10) Autolite makes a double platnium that is supposed to be a decent plug.11) Your brand and type of oil and gasoline can have a significant impact on ping. Some additive packages can increase detonation problems. If you guys have questions about spark plugs contact WWW.acdelco.com They have some good info. You might also want to post these questions to bosch, auto lite and denso and compare the answeres you get. If they are all basicly the same you can feel preety confident that you are getting the most well researched info available.

Bosch Platinum +4 plugs do not require
gapping (leave them as they are out of the
box).
SplitFire got sued because of fraudulent
claims of rediculously-better performance.
When comparing spark plugs, always use
new plugs and don't give the currently
installed plugs time to age before changing to
next brand.
Whenever you change plugs, you are bound to
notice some improvement just because the
old ones are aged and never perform as well
as new.
I have yet to see +4s or any other plug be the
direct cause of DI Cassette failure.
DO make sure the rest of your ignition system
is in excellent shape.

On a similar plain to BH-R/T and to add to a point that sandman makes, I pulled the original plugs out of my '98 LS1 to find that some of my double platinum plugs were single platinum. The gap was .063 on those and I have some small discs somewhere in my motor. That may explain the detonation that I can't get rid of. The small platinum discs on the ground electrode were mia. I will never use double electrode plugs again.

How many people here have experience with the +4s, excessive fan roar (buy the Black Magic 150 electric fan) and ping in a '98 3.9L V6 sport?
Anyone have preferred plug wires?
