I'm thinking about buying a new 2001 dakota, with a 4.7L V8 and a 5 speed manual. Can anyone give me the specs on the motor and 0-60 times and whatnot?

The 2001 4.7L makes 230 HP and 295 ft-lbs of torque. The fastest combination with that engine would be a RC with the 5-speed and 3.92 gears. You could probably do 0-60 in mid 6's to low 7's and clear the Quarter, I've heard, in around 15 seconds maybe high 14's.

For what it's worth, you'd be surprised... the 5.9 RTs... are right there along with 4.7 5sp...
If I had to pick between the two... especially if my truck would be seeing the drag strip... I'd take the 5.9, the auto will make launching FAR easier... and the 5.9 motor has more potential to build later on.

I HAVE A 2001 REG CAB 2X4 4.7L V8 5PD. I CONSIDERED AN R/T BUT A 5PD IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO. IN ADDITION, WITH THE MONEY YOU SAVE FROM BUYING THE R/T UPGRADE YOU CAN SPEND IT ON WORTHWHILE PERFORMANCE UPGRADES, NOT JUST LOOKS.I TAKE R/TS NO PROBLEM
