Subject: 2001 Dakota CC R/T cluster...
IP: Logged

Message:
Hello,
I own a 2001 CC R/T and was wondering about the instrument cluster. A couple of weeks ago someone broke into my truck, stole my stereo, and broke my cluster doing it. I dont know why they broke my cluster, it had nothing to do with the stereo. Anyway, they cracked the clear window, broke off all of the needles, and stabbed the hell out of the digital odometer. My question is...Does the cluster have some sort of memory for the mileage? Or, does the computer save it on memory?
If the cluster saves the mileage, then I know of a junkyard selling a cluster with just about the same mileage as my truck (29,xxx).
If you must ask, I didnt have insurance on the truck. It was going to storage when this happened. So I have to bite the bullet on this.
Thanks in advance.

I believe the memory is stored in the computer not the dash. Im not sure the cost of the dash guages but call around some junkyards im sure someone wrecked a Dakota by now with your dash panel. Sorry to hear yourr truck was jacked up. THere are a lot of LOSERS out there that will break in somoenes car to steal something stupid like a stereo and in the process destroy the vehicle just because they are there.

When you order the cluster you'll have to tell the counterperson the milage that you had on the old one.

Bye Bye
